Default fan mounting question.

Currently mocking in my griffin radiator(their stock version) into my rad support and mating with a mark IIV 2 speed fan. Question 1. Can the plastic shroud of the fan actually touch the rad surface or should it stand off a few mm? 2. The fan shroud is big enough top to bottom, but shy in width aprox 3 in per side when centered. Not a ton of depth th play with so will this work or do i really need to find a.way to widen shroud? For a 71 bird BTW.

Tnx
Steve

Yes, it can touch the core surface, though would use some type of rubber insulator to prevent chaffing. Can slit a rubber hose and put it along the edge, if it doesn't already have something like that.

Generally, you want to cover as much of the core surface as possible. The 'acceptable' min core coverage is roughly 70%. Anything less than 100% will reduce cooling.
