thanks, Epoxy, I had to have it waterproof. I would never suggest rattle can, you would need to strip it all back off before putting any "real" paint on there. Everything except the doors has been stripped to bare metal and I wasn't sure the gray sandable primer was waterproof. I removed the center stripe, now it is just an outline, I think it looks better. Who knows, I may remove all of it, I wasn't too eaten up with it after I put it on there. Epoxy primer will get chalky after a few months in the sun if not protected.

If my license plate started with a 6 then it would be appropriate, basically it would be 666 Evil
(I didn't pick the plate, it just came that way) |

Nice Brian, but where's the video of them leaving the cul-de-sac?

I finally peeled the center black stripe but left the outline stripe, barely visible in this pic but I like the effect a lot better. Been super hot but has finally cooled enough to drive this heater box again!

Here's a few more pics....not exactly a photographer by trade....
I sure wish there was a way to put a nice big stripe down the middle but it just doesn't fit the formula hoods.....even thought about ghost striping, sort of like Kell did but with white instead....took me awhile just to pick the "red" Ram Air stickers...now thinking about going back to black instead of the red.....or white..... |

If you want something to "break up" all that white, you might consider a side stripe.

few more today locally. STOCK springs and front shocks, but AC was totally removed and I run aluminum heads. Supposed to sit about an inch lower in rear, for flush and dry and handling. ( per assembly) May drop front a little, not sure.

1971 FIREBIRD:
The tires are 245-60/15's.....and you're right, stripes just won't look right.... Bruce, the Formula is looking good....regarding the "settling issue",seems like every spring has a different height on these cars,I ended up putting Hotchkis springs all the way around and finally put 1" lowering blocks on the back and fabricated some aluminum "adaptors" to go beside each leaf in the back so that when I tightened down on the u-bolts they didn't bend the mounting brackets, the u-bolts actually go through the adaptors,it's a nice fit and they hold everything in place and fills in the gap left by the lowering blocks.I got lucky with the front springs, they settled nicely although it took some time. |
