I would never criticize someone for taking their car back original...but I gotta tell you, I love what you did with the car the first time. I'm sure I would have left it.
You going back with the 350-2?

I sold my original engine to Lyn (carguy66) many years ago and it ended up in a wagon last I heard was in Wisconsin somewhere so I don't think I'll see that again, I would like to find a 72 350 (have a 400 block I'll put up with some cash for a running engine) I have my 2 barrel intake/carb/air cleaner so just need a long block along with a running th350.

Need your guys thoughts on this one...should I go partial patch panel on this one or full quarter now that they have the repos out. Here is the closeup of the trouble. The rest of the panel is solid.

You probably need to remove the paint to really see what's going on there....but from what I see in the pics, I'd patch it.....In fact, it looks to me like you may even be able to fabricate that little bit.

That is where Im torn, the lower quarter patch panels just cover from the tire back where the whole lip needs replaced and just a small section behind the tire. I did the bodywork on it about 5 years ago and I know the surface (minus the section where the patch is) is all solid and hate to cut good GM metal and replace it with "OK" metal. Not sure how good a custom patch can get to the factory contours but if someone can do it, Id rather go that route.

However, whats probably worse is the other side which looks great now, but a previous "bodyman" installed a 1/4 skin on it and did it rather questionable and doesnt line up that well at the rocker panel. It almost needs cut at the weld and pulled out a couple millimeters as there is a good deal of filler there to build it out. Im not sure if I have to fix that or replace the entire 1/4, especially with a vinyl top going back on and that the aproximate area the vinyl trim goes is where the filler was applied.

I can do bodywork short of cutting and welding, I can do fillerwork and blocksand all day long but this is the part Im unsure of, but want to do it right, myself, if possible

Figured I would get some work done today. I started lining up the front end and got the fenders set the best I could by myself. Seem the bodylines are pretty level however below the bodylines, the gap gets smaller as it gets closer to the rocker panel. It doesnt hit so Im wondering if I should leave it as is, or if I can make it better.

Here is the passenger fender lined up. Not the best picture because of room on this side but Im happy now. It is a NOS fender so it didnt cause too much work.

Drivers side all lined up...

Almost hate to take these out of the box, but NOS grilles...

Overall shot of the car...

You probably need new radiator support bushings or it's possible the support itself has rotted, this will cause the nose to pitch down and close the gap at your fender bottoms. If you go full quarters you may need inners once you disassemble.

The core support was replaced and is solid, the support bushings appear good shape and not crushed or cracked. I'm wondering if there's a certain spot to shim to get the bottom gap out. I'd like to get the gaps set and the car in primer before I tear it apart for paint. Innerspring wouldn't be a bad idea since I have nickel size holes I've patched before. What I do need are front inner wheel wells as those are crusty in the part that goes behind the fender

Picked up a correct 72 350 engine. Not the original but as close to original as I can get...

Will regasket the engine and paint it up and install it with my original trans I kept.

Started taking the car down to bare metal to repaint it the original Brasilla Gold with tan vinyl top. Need a lower patch panel on the drivers quarter and either the passenger quarter replaced or the quarter panel skin a bodyshop improperly installed fixed. Other than that, its just sanding the car down, priming it, blocking it, and painting it. Sounds easy, right?

Sold the GTO rear valance and picked up a LeMans rear valance. Actually I bought one and was given another a couple days later (go figure!) So this is the better one I am using and Ill either sell or keep the other for a spare.

Also you can see the 69 GTO taillights I need to redo for my womans GTO in the background...

Located a mint 1972 only trunk "PONTIAC" emblem since I gave away my old emblem when I cloned the car. Purchased this for 50 bucks from a member on here. Now to drill out those welded up holes! Hopefully they arent stubburn!

I guess no one repops this emblem? Just curious, helping a friend redo his 72' LeMans. I am always on the lookout for reference photos, information, etc.

I *believe* they repro the part but it's not the same finish or material IIRC

I ended up taking the trunklid off of this car and using it on my fiance's 72 since its drilled for a spoiler. So this is a mint condition one and just needs the "Pontiac" emblem holes drilled (trunk lid came off a 70 GTO) Just waiting on funds to fix the quarters and will start prepping the rest of the car for paint.

Installed on the car...

Started pulling the front end back off so I could start doing a frame off restoration on my car. My frame needs repairs up by the trans crossmember so figured this will give me a chance to clean up and detail everything since last restoration was a "driver" restoration and would like this one more detailed.

Before I pull anything...

Hoods off...

Drivers fender next...

I need this piece thats spot welded to the firewall (drivers side) Anyone have a spare...

Passenger side next to go...

Now time for the core support to go...

Now I just have to take the rear bumper, gas tank, and whatever other is connected still and then start soaking these bolts. I have a feeling these arent going to come off easy.
