Have you brought this to a cruise/show?

No increase, as a matter of fact according to my stock v pulley sizes the serpentine system spins the water pump .06 rpms slower to a 1.17 to 1 ratio. The system in my car has the larger diameter water pump pulley which slows it down even more, .12 rpms for a 1.11 to 1 ratio from the stock 1.23 to 1 ratio. My car has a 5 blade clutch fan and runs very cool.
If a motor is running hot I dont think its related to a slow spinning pump as the thermostat restricts flow as needed. In my experience undersized or old clogged radiators were the culprit most of the time.
I havent taken it to any shows yet. been meanin to stop at the local friday nights just havent made it yet.
If anyone lives in the ne pa or jersey area I'd be glad to show it to ya.

Yes I have preliminary drawings to move the compressor forward to position the belt the 5 5/8 " forward of the engine. I am in the process of reacquiring all the necessary parts.

I purchased the Camaro belt tensioner Gates 38145 all the spacer you listed in post 153.
I now need to Purchase a T6 pulley for the Sanden Compressor.
The Dayco 89001 you are using in place of the Subru pulley?

Yea, almost any idler in the 3" diameter range can be used. I chose that one because its extremely popular.

Jimmo,
Do you need to space the lower pulley forward with the factory A/C pulley ring- or any other method?

Yes, use the spacer to maintain the pulley alignment

Thats correct but I want to add something. I read somewhere on one of the threads here, might have been the March set up, that pontaic used an offset balancer on non AC cars. If your car is equipped with ac you will need the ac pulley or equivalent spacer however I think if its a non ac car you shouldnt need a spacer as the balancer is a tad forward.

Someone please chime in and correct me if I am wrong. I just dont know for shore but I remember reading that somewhere.

No, there is not a parts listing for two balancers one for AC cars and one for non AC cars.
The cost effective solution would be to use the ring spacer on the non AC cars.
How ever I don't think it will make a difference as the mountings are being moved forward with custom spacers to line up with the Ford crank pulley.
Use or non-use of the spacer ring could be determined by the total length of spaces required to align the belt.

Default DAYCO PULLEY

Looked up the Dayco pn 89007 on Amazon.com the listing only showed the pulley.
Is the bolt, washer, nut and spacer included with the pulley?
As shown in the E-bay listing.

No, I machined the spacer and gathered the rest of the hardware to go with it. The dayco part# is the pulley only.

OK, Jimmo keep up the good work. will be standing by waiting for the availability of the idler pulley extension. So I ca start to work on that side of the serpintine system.
Got a notice from the PO that they are holding a package too large for the mail box.
Should be the Sanden compressor with a serpintine pulley I bought on E-bay.

Just got the other pieces in from the waterjet. here is a pic of them in raw form. both need a little work to be bolt on ready but at least they are finally here.
The aluminum will receive threads at the top two holes and a counter bore on the other mounting hole to keep the bolt head away from the path of the belt.
The smaller steel bracket will get a threaded spacer welded to it to accept the ac bracket. This will perform the same function as the 1" thick aluminum one I made previously.

Bringing this back to the top.
jimmo is making great progress refining his DIY Serpentine belt system.
Anyone else have up dates on their DIY Serpentine belt install.
I've purchased jimmo's idler pulley extension bracket shown above in post 193.
I purchased a CS 130 alternator from this E-bay seller billh6800, who will fabricate a custom CS 130 alternator.
Purchased a power steering pump with the serpentine pulley. Both should arrive by the end of the weed.
Also found this site for Goodyear Gatorback Serpentine belts. The 6 rib belt Part number, length from 29" to 120" in 1" increments.
shouldn't have any trouble selecting a belt.
Check it out to determine what belt length and part number to use.

Ollie, I am looking forward to seeing your Sanden compressor install, as I would rather go that route instead of using the R4 compressor, if possible. Please post pics and parts lists when you can. What vehicle are you installing in? What will you be using for hoses, evaporator, condensor, etc?

I'm installing in a 65 Grand Prix. I don't mind changing out the condensor for a modern unit, mine developed a leak anyway. But I'm not sure I can adapt modern stuff to work with my 1965 evaporator...if that is even possible.

As for now I'm still running the serpentine belt on the water pump, alternator and power steering only..it's holding up OK. I have noticed that belt tension must be kept pretty tight since this system uses no tensioner.

AROWHEAD
What year heads do you have on the engine. The vintage Air bracket mounts to the two bolt bosses on the side of the head. The Classic Auto Air bracket mounts to the bolt holes on the front of the head.
This set up is on a 79 TA, using the stock GM AC. The only change is converting to a Sanden compressor, using the Vintage Air Snaden bracket

Check out E-bay seller, Classic auto Air

They offer any combination of hose and fittings.

RE: VA Bracket

Either thats a new one, or an old one, or they have more that one Pontiac application because my VA bracket, installed new 2 yrs ago, mounts to the front only.

Interesting.
The link is to the latest Vintage Air on line catalog.
Maybe there are two bracket listings. I know the the AC compressor mounting changed in 1969. Prior to 69 the AC bracket bolted to the engine with two special head bolts. in 69 the AC bracket bolted to two bosses cast in the side of the head.
Do you have a PN. or post a photo of the bracket
