The John Edwards Bird -"might"- be the one that Jim Mino has mentioned that he owns and is currently restoring - that was a former racer from an Ohio Dealer.

The cars you and JohnZ. drove could still surface.
Its been a slow process getting guys to share what is still out there.
And we can't reach everyone anyhow.
But its looking better lately, thats for sure !

The ones you guys drove would likely have been coveted cars due to their high option contents and drivetrains once they went to Joe Publics. Good chance of survivals - excluding crashes and northern exposures.

FYI- my RAII auto was delivered to Weidner Pontiac in Mansfield, Ohio and was raced in NHRA's stock class by Pete Weidner. The dealership had a string of Pontiac stock class race cars back in the day, a couple of Super-Duty Catalinas, the RAII Bird, a 69 RAIV Judge among others.

My dad payed $125 over the invoice price. In hindsight that was a good buy, but I wonder if that was a good deal in 1968?

That was about an $800 discount off MSRP on a Special Ordered car.
About like an $8,000 discount in performance new car money today.
Might could get a deal like that on an inventory leaf catcher car at end of year maybe.

He must have had a really good friend at that dealership - like probably the owner.
Some kinda inside track he was riding anyway.
Or maybe an advertised special promotional sale ?

$125 over dealer invoice was a Killer Deal on a special order.
58k mile Cali Car should be in pretty good shape still being original family owned.
How bad did you beat on it when you were younger ?
Or did Pop ever let you drive it in your youth ?

In other words - just how much azz does this Bird haul ?
Did it scare your friends , or your kids ?

Purchase order does give a little more character than an Invoice or BHC.
Pretty cool. Original Window Sticker would be way over the top.

Couldn't find a date of the actual order on the document.
It has approx delivery 8-15 , and first payment due 8-15 , which was August.
Then handwritten approx del date as Sept - probably a typo.

Maybe there was an agreed time when his dad "wanted" to take delivery.
Or they just allowed plenty of leighway in the contract.
Car should have been to dealer by June 20'ish. imho

Wish my dad would have ordered one - and held onto it.
