Tod,
Your wheel turned out real nice. Here are some shots of mine that I took today. Maybe in a month or so I will also have some after pics!

My '66 came with a wood wheel and walnut shift knob. Both long gone and unlikely to get replaced at today's prices. I'd like to have a wheel for the '68 as well actually...

I don't know how I didn't see those cracks in the pic you posted a few days ago.

I will be out of town until late tomorrow evening so here is an early Sunday post. What looks like trash on the front fender in the first picture is actually a reflection of construction work going on at my neighbor's house.

It's about freekin time Phil! She really looks good.
Now if you'd quit screwin around out travelin you could get it driveable and out on the road before you have to put it away for the winter. And we do want to hear you have it road legal and are driving it. We don't care if it's only the driver's seat and no other interior. ![]() And don't listen to Charles... he's just doesn't want anyone's as shiney as his is. LOL

Rub it in Greg...... rub it in.
LOL The stepdaughter and family you saw moved back up here this past September. Now she's thinking she liked the warm winters down there better. You could send some of that warmer winter weather up this way.... especially seeing Charles is hogging it in Louisianna and won't share. LOL

Kennesaw is too cold for me! I like it down here in the "South"! The temp yesterday was 86 but it only got up to 76 today. Winter is coming!!
![]() The car has a 99% complete interior in it. I took the carb off yesterday so a good friend could go through it. When I removed it the whole bottom was wet and there was gas laying in the intake. And, the number 6 plug was gas fouled as well. Should have the carb back later this week, then I am taking the car to another friends shop Saturday to get a pin stripe painted on. After that I have to put the front end back on and it will be drivable. I still have to get the steering wheel restored but I can get a cheap Grant wheel from work to use while mine is sent off. I need to make a "punch list" to see what all I actually need to finish the job. Now comes the hard part for me, updating the totals! I spent almost every dollar I will ever have last week but the results were worth it. Here goes! My labor @480 hrs. ..............$9,600.00 Parts ...............................$14,985.03 Outside Labor ...................$17,610.00 Gifts ............................... $2,791.25 Total (OUCH!) .................$44,986.28

Thank God for a bad water pump! It may have saved my motor. I am also glad I haven't put the grills and front bumper on yet.The pump bearing went out so I bought a new pump from where I work. I installed it,cranked the car up and let it come up to operating temp but I didn't have very much flow through the radiator. The coolant just was moving. So, I came on here and started reading threads on water pumps. That's where I learned about "clearancing" the divider plate. But, one reply to a thread caught my attention. It said to make sure and put new tube seals in the pump.
I talked to a local engine rebuilder and he said "yes' I did need them. So, I bought a timing cover gasket set, went home and took the new pump off to install them. For the life of me I couldn't figure out how to install them! So, I came here again, posted a help thread in the heating & cooling forum, and got my answer. there are supposed to be two tubes that the seals go in and the tubes slide into the block. I posted a want ad here and will have the tubes by the end of the week. That will probably increase the flow a great deal. And, before anyone says anything about this, remember, I have a 69 block, timing cover and water pump in my car. Oh yeah, I got a little ahead of myself with this story. My buddy brought my carb back last Monday and we put it on and got the car running better. That is when I found the bad water pump. In addition to the water pump I changed out all 8 spark plugs and bought oil and filter to change before I put the car on the road. So, I spent $143.03 this week plus I ordered some big ticket items from our host that will be delivered to the Swap meet in Moultrie, ga. next Friday. I will update totals next Sunday. Of course, with the car not running I couldn't get the stripe painted on yesterday.

I bought some good used ones from a fellow PYer. I debated using the stainless but decided to go with the regular ones after discussing it with the seller.

Seller said there were only two holes in each of them so they should be good! But, anything would beat what was (wasn't) in the pump. I'm just thankful the old pump went bad before I put the car on the road. I could have ended up looking for another motor!
