So how do you get the rod to the pump after the pan is installed?

My guess is to grind off the tab on the shaft so you can slip it in from the top of the block. Be careful not to throw the shaft off when installing the distributor. If you do that you will lose the shaft into the pan and have to pull the motor.

been there done that. no fun...

The shaft is two pieces with a hex slip-joint. One piece stays with the pump. The outer piece is slid in (through an O-ring seal) after the pan is on. It's retained by a bolt through an arm on the outer end (into a tapped hole in the aluminum O-ring block). So adjustments are only in full-turn increments, which is a three PSI change (range is about 60 - 90 PSI). A mini-starter makes it very easy to get at the adjustment.

If you've got LOTS of time someday, I'll try to explain how the center carb's power valve is also now externally adjustable on that engine- with the air cleaners in-place! Not to mention the remote idle-mixture knobs of the center carb...

What oil pan modifications are necessary to run the Titan pro pump?

Jim

That was my son's post above, but I can tell you that the pan needs more room at the rear. We did it with a BFH and had a hard time with the pan sealing to the rail. I think that you can now get pans specifically made for a Titan pump, so I'd ask Titan if you are thinking about ordering thier pump.

For the price of a Titan why not run an external belt drive pump? Makes it really easy to prime the engine and gets rid of the cam twisting caused by running the oil pump off the back of the cam.

The Titan pro billet pump is a really good oil pump toriington bearings on the inner drive gear. we've been using the same one since the 90' before they even made onefor a pontiac, with no wear. it's really just a ford one with a different adapter.

Yeah, when you stretch the back of the pan with your BFH it pulls the front toward it and you have to double up on timing cover piece.
