our local dragstrip...the highschool was immediately to the right in the pix and the parking lot emptied out on Trojan Lane...I had many a race there in the late 1960s

...the Trojan Horse school mascot (left) was pulled down the street and sat on fire by members of the Class of 1969...the mystery has NEVER been solved

...I remember going to the races when I was a small kid, I thought the drivers were professional

....all local bands and mostly my classmates from the late 1960s


pix 1...the "Poor Boys"...far left member has been my business accountant for nearly 40 years

pix 4..."Pitney Bowes Stamp Machine"...guy on the far left, started "Ticket Master", still CEO or Chairman of the Board

pix 5...most of the groups recorded a record, this one had several

...another local band that went big time, they still play local events for the fun of it...they recorded under the name of the "Chosen Few" and later the "Faith Band" and had a national hit, "Dancin' Shoes"...saw them play last year, like having a time machine in my pocket

...my grade school (Hernley) being razed in 1974...still have a couple of bricks from the demo

...this belonged to a neighbor of mine when I was a kid...it always sat outside and we used to climb all over it...big excitement to see it in a parade

...the real reason I have always been a MOPAR guy, I graduated from "Walter P. Chrysler Memorial High School" in 1969....the school still has the distinction of having the largest high school fieldhouse in the world

...our local cruise strip, about 100 years before I raced the same street

...I have nearly 60,000 pix in my computer, but this is enough to bore anyone to death for one night

Remember when cars like this - IIRC Gran Fury Wagon(?) - were common in driveways and on the streets?

And to think of all of the mothers who were shorter than 5 feet tall piloting these 440 cid monsters around town...full of kids, grocerys, etc.
