1971 wheel colors were
19 (A) Black 16 (V) Dark Steel 29 (E) Dark Blue 49 (M) Dark Green 59 (Z) Dark Gold and 67 (S) Bronze Some think that the W, in your box 79, stood for the wheel color. |

cool find adam. I didn't know it was a factory two tone car.
strangely, I don't get those same "compliments". although, I've been slowly putting it back to its tempest roots I guess.

For comparison sake here's the sheet from my GTO (found above the tank). 4800 miles 1/4 at a time (never seen snow and only in the rain once or twice). K

What is the color combo of this car?

Keith, I bought it last summer and it had just over 94,000. I've put about 2,000 on it. According to the title, it hadn't been registered since 1996 until i did it last year. I believe it sat under a tarp for a long period of time as the top of the hood and trunk lid have pitted, but the rest of the paint is decent.
The car is castillian bronze with a light tan painted top, not sure of the exact color, but I would like to know for restoration purposes. |

The guy I bought it from was getting ready to paint it orbit orange. Glad I got to it in time.
. It has some rust on the bottom of the 1/4s and fenders, but the floors and frame are great. The motor appears to be 99% original. Runs and drives great, it's been a nice surprise. I had to replace the original radiator because it began leaking after a week or do of driving it, but other than that, all these pics are just as I bought it. Note the Dragstrip pic, not much of a performer with the 350-2 and speed, 2.78 gear... Haha![]()

My 72 luxury lemans with a 350-2, th-350, and 2.78 gear ran 9.98 in the 1/8th, usually low 10s. The T-37 has run a best of 11.38, usually 11.50s. What a difference some transmission gear can make at 3900#. Haha

I'd say so too, I was shocked at how clean the core of the top side of the tank was. It has undercoating on the bottom side, and surface rust on the top perimeter , but the center area was surprisingly nice. I don't know how old the undercoating is, but it's been on there a long while

Not always Keith. I guess it depends on where the sheet is placed. Only a small portion of my Pontiac built 67 GTO convert survived. At the time I found the Build Sheet the car was15 years old and had around 75,000 miles. It's pretty shabby but I cherish any factory documentation I find.

I was the 2nd owner of my 72 , and I got it in 1999, and I still haven't found the sheet for that one. Had the carpet and seats out, tank dropped. About the only place I haven't been is inside the front door panels.

Adam, Is your '72 a Pontiac build? If so, only place I've found their small version buildsheet is between the carpet & the sound deadner to the right of the shifter porch area.
Another place to ck on the '71 Fremont car is a taped to the back of the original cardboard package tray, if it has never been removed. That seemed to be a consistent spot on the '71 Fremont cars. the Lakewood cars often had them behind the lh doorpanel, I've yet to to find one behind the lh doorpanel of a '71 Fremont built car.

My 72 GTO didn't have one above the gas tank either. It also didn't have the insulator pad between the floorpan and the tank. I'm the original owner on this car. I did get a build sheet off the distributor right after it arrived at the dealer. I also found one above the driver's sun visor.

I should mention the build sheet I posted is the only one I've ever found in any of my collector cars. Never found one in my Chevelle (I'm the original owner) and never found one in my pickup truck - even though I followed the build down the assembly line and drove it off the end of the line myself. Wish I had thought to grab a build manifest while I was there. K

So where is the common place to find a build sheet on an Atlanta built car?
