Check out the GTO in the service department, description says 1971
but the photos look slightly older. You can see a white 71 GTO
in the showroom in the front cover photo.

Holy crap indeed. I delivered to Knopf Pontiac many many times from 1978 to 1993, and Faulkner right across from them. Plus the dearlers in Allentown, Bethleham [their names escape me right now], and Star Pontiac in Easton.

My 1969 Judge was bought new at Rogers Pontiac in Dayton OH. After I got the PHS I wrote a letter to them asking if they had any sales records on it, unfortunately they did not. However; the president of the dealership wrote me a nice letter thanking me for contacting them and included a license plate frame like they used in the late 60's.

My 73 GTO was sold new at Holly Pontiac in NJ. What is left of the decal emblem is still on the trunk lid. Will have it reproduced when I paint the car.

My dads 1940, 1950, 1959 Pontiac's were ordered through A.E. England Pontiac, Hollywood Ca. The 59 Catalina was a solid lifter ( cam & lifters in the trunk) Tri-Power car with a delete Tri-Power badge order, Heavy duty police/taxi cab hydramatic and Bonneville tri tone leather interior. The car was built in Mi. and shipped to L.A. instead of being built in Southgate Ca.
I ordered My 69 H-O LeMans from Majestic Pontiac L.A., was built in Fremont Ca. ( still have this car. Naturally the car was a black plate car, but now has historical plates.

We bought this one family owned '63 Lemans last year to restore. It was originally purchased from Sedars Pontiac in Mason City, Iowa and handed down through 3 generations. Sedars is still in business, but abandoned GM and now sells Hondas.

My 66 GTO Convertible was sold through the Pontiac Retail Store in Pontiac, Michigan. This was the first Pontiac Dealership in the country. Many Pontiac employees ordered/bought their cars there including the first owner of my GTO.

My 66 Hardtop GTO (that I sold in 1990) was sold through Jack Haupt Pontiac in Clarkston, Michigan.

Misplaced the PHS for my other Tri-Power 66 GTO Convertible that I sold in December 1989. If I find it, I will post that info.

My 71 GTO was purchased new at Chapman- Currey Inc. of Greenville TX. From what I understand spent one year in Texas the next 29 in Kansas and the last 13 here with me in NYS. Assembeld at the Freemont plant.

My 1969 Firebird 400 was also from Majestic Pontiac. Over the years, I found many pictures of the dealership sign, lots of window sticker/invoices from Majestic, and a license plate frame, but I never found a dealer sticker or emblem.

If I remember correctly, Majestic Pontiac was on the corner of Crenshaw and 34th street. I had to go there to pick up a part the Monday after the Watt's riots. It was not a good place to be.

Jim, was the area that Majestic Pontiac was in ever a good area? I thought the Watts Riots were pretty widespread (1965) and I know the rioters roamed the streets for several blocks in all directions, but I wasn't sure if they infiltrated the neighborhoods around where that Pontiac dealer was, or did the area start to turn sour in the 1970's?

At one time the Crenshaw shopping district in Liemert Park ( these were areas of the city of L.A. that had names like where I grew up in Westchester, others you may have heard of would be Venice, Hollywood, North Hollywood, Paya del Rey, San Pedro, Mar Vista, Palasades, Wilmington, Carson, Watts etc. just to name a few) Anyroad at one time Liemert park was a nice upper middle class neighborhood. My uncle had a house not far from Majestic Pontiac, but as blight/crime spread from the inner city in all directions Liemert park fell into or became a poverty area. My parents house in Westchester was about 30 minutes on a good day away. The Crenshaw shopping district shopping center was where us white kids would sometimes go on a Friday night to look for street races. One of the famous street racers from that area was a guy some of you all have heard of called Big Willie. Later in the early 90's Big Willie was the guy who did most of the organizing with the city of L.A. to open up Brotherhood Raceway Park in the L.A. Port terminal area. My company donated several pre- production vehicles for use of the facility to use. I liked it cause I got to run for free. This track, along with L.A.C.R. is where some of us guys who belonged to a GTO club called Southern California Gathering of Goats used to run.
BTW: the last time I know of seeing the Majestic sign was in the movie "White Men Can't Jump" . It's a night shot and their driving north down Crenshaw Blvd. That will give you a idea of how badly a nice area has gone to ruin.

I wasn't in that area much, but it didn't seem too nice in 1965. On that Monday there were military jeeps with machine guns on the back, and troops on the roofs with what appeared to be automatic weapons. It was safe at that point, but not on the weekend. I was supposed to work on Saturday, but the plant was on the edge of the curfew zone at Crenshaw and El Segundo.
