Hey Everyone,

Thanks for all the feedback and helpful insight on the car's value. I really appreciate those folks that gave there opinions and helpful questions about the car. We've gotten a lot of PM about the car, request for additional pictures and what the asking price is.

I have taken a lot of pictures that should answer a lot of the questions that have come up here. The link for the pictures is as follows:

We have decided to sell the car and will be asking $24k OBO. I will be posting the car in the classified section with all the details about the engine, cowl tag, and all important casting numbers one might need.

Editing my original post because it came off a bit harsh.

Bottom line is that it all depends on how you define "restore." For a concours frame-off restoration, you're looking at spending well north of $50k. You could certainly spend $100k on it without trying too hard. And you'd have a car worth $50k-$60k.

If you're looking to flip it, you're better off paying $24k for it and selling it for $12k as is. Lot less money lost that way.

If you just want a nice Carousel Red 69 RAIII Judge, you can easily pick up a restored one for $50-60k (i.e., a car that someone else spent $100k in restoring). And if you do your homework, you won't end up with one that needs to be re-restored.

what a difference a few better angled pics can make !

If it were real real solid with a comparable 69 WS engine block and everything else in order - maybe 25k.

but -

Restamped fake carburetor - deduct big
68 YS base automatic block - deduct big
bad trunk lid - deduct big
bad hood - deduct big
cracked dash - deduct big
all the wheels are wrong codes - deduct
plenty of cancer - keep on deducting

i'd be scared of a Florida car in this condition.
From all the pictures i see about 8-12k maybe - only because it is a Judge with clear title and still has about 4k of decent prominent parts still usable.
And some buy sight unseen.

Not throwing out hate or anything - you asked whats it worth - just flipping out on your estimation of value. Wouldn't bother me a bit to offer 5-6k and walk away without it.

If you can get Half of the 24k from someone after an inspection in person - you're doing damd good.
It won't be 2006 again for a long time.

If you put it on eBay with strategic pictures - it might pull 15k or better in bids - then wait and see if they send a transport for it - or show up in person.

Not your fault the car is in this condition so don't take it personally.

Charles probably means something along the lines of could you buy the car and finish it for under 46k ... maybe in reference to what your former Gold/Gold 69 4spd NOM Judge could be bought for after it was very nicely frame-on restored by Tom.
And it was a MUCH MUCH Nicer car to start with and more complete/matching.

Then there is the Blue/Blue 69 Judge NOM that Jimmy did an outstanding frame-off resto on that can be had for about 50k.
Which was also a much much better car to start with than this swamp water car.

Thats what i'm thinking he's getting at ......

Yes was trying to get at $70K. When I was doing the math I was thinking it had the original engine. Read the original thread the other night, and must have been concentrating on the first 3 pics and glossed over the NOM. Then today looking at the photo bucket pics figured even a correct driver would cost $45K or more finished. Went to the classifieds after posting and saw the blue judge in AL without the correct block going for $49K...WOW what a difference by buying one finished. Granted it's not a 4 speed and not my first choice in color, but a better deal for a driver. $70K is what I would expect to pay for a nice 69 Judge these days give or take.

$70k is round port territory, if you ask me. A PY member picked up a very nice RAIV 69 4 sp Judge a few years ago for a good bit less than that. NOM, but numbers correct.

If that doesn't float your boat, you should be looking for the cream of the crop in a RAIII. Darrell Davidson (Supercar Creations) sold his 69 RAIII Judge for a little less than that a few years ago; it was a NOM car, but Silver/red guts, 4 sp, 3.55, hood tach, etc. Fresh restoration and fresh concours gold from GTOAA Nats.

Or pick up Jimmy Daniel's very nice Judge in Alabama for $50k and spend $20k on hookers and booze.

Best way to find out what its worth is to put it on Ebay with no reserve. I've restored rusty cars before and never will again.

The labor on the paint for my car was 7K which out here is a BARGIN.It took my guy forever to get it done just because of body work.He has done all my cars but never needed any panels replaced.He would not take that car in at all.I think out here at a reg paint shop it would cost 10-12K in labor.I really think this car is for someone that can do the body and paint work them self as a labor of love.Tom

i thought it was basically a strip prime paint car too.

We took it to bare metal and the ridge around the wheel wells was full of bondo,could have just done the patches but my body guy wanted 1/4s.Actually only one front inner was beyond repair but wanted them to match.He was amazed how good everything else was with the state of the wells.Tom
