I found my GT-37s build sheet under the right front corner of the front seat. I have not checked for one under the door panels as of yet. At least I have one.

I once found a build sheet in the driver's door of a Lakewood-built '71 LeMans Sport.

I have never found a build sheet in my Pontiac-built '71 T-37. The only place I have not looked is above the fuel tank.

Can anyone tell me, did the 71 350-2 come with chrome valve covers. My t-37 has them, and I have no reason to believe they aren't original, but I just wouldn't have expected it on this base of a car.

My 72 lux lemans 350-2 had painted ones. Just trying to slowly restore and authenticate my T-37

I checked my Pontiac Factory Parts Book (issued Jan 1971) and it confirmed what I thought. 1970 was the last year for chrome valve covers on "A" bodies. I had put a set of 1967 chrome covers on my 72 GTO, but had to take them off when I started having it judged on concours.

My early build 71 GT-37 (Pontiac MI car) is factory original down to the original plug wires on the car which have never been off and I can tell you beneath them are chromed valve covers painted over with Pontiac engine paint. Too bad I will have to re-paint over them to do a factory correct resto!

But then I would think if your V8 T-37 had factory chrome valve covers then the other V8 A-bodies would have them as well. Anyone else???

I found exactly what you describe in that precise location on my Pontiac-built '71 T-37. I have had the entire car apart with the exception of the fuel tank. In your experience, OPH, do Pontiac plant A-bodies not have a build sheet above the tank?

All paperwork was supposed to be removed and thrown away.

The fact that any was left in the car was simply because it was easier to leave it where it landed than it was to remove it - which is why you often find paperwork with tar sprayed over it, screws shot through it, etc.

As I mentioned in post #25 I found the build sheet over the fuel tank in my Pontiac built '65 GTO - thankfully. It's the only build sheet I've ever found in any of my collector cars.

I hear ya. killin me that i junked 4 quezal gold steelies. Mine was pretty rough when i started back in 91. those wide ovals look really good, please do post some shots once theyre on!

Was your car originally Quezal gold? Looks like we have very similar cars...mine is also Laurentian green and had a Jade green interior when I got it...yours has more trim than mine (rockers etc)...mine was originally sold in northern NJ. Do you have any interior shots of your car?

I will definitely post up some more pics when they are on the car. I just got my sending unit back from being rebuilt, so the goal for this week is to get the tank cleaned up and back in and to finish some of the detailing on the underside and get the rear end reinstalled. Hopefully within 2 weeks i can start getting some paint and body quotes. I'd like to have it finished by early summer.
