Default fire in the hole!

anybody like jet dragsters? the kids & non-gearheads seemed 2 love em. they made lots of fire & noise but after we'd seen our 1st one, we hated 2 have 1 at our race. they took up a lot of time & the track paid them a lot of money they could have used 2 sweeten the pot for the regular track racers. but hey, thats just 1 opinion from a racers point of view.

Circa 1976? That's Gary Beck's car, and the guy in the background, in the yellow shirt, looks like Beck.

I believe that's Mark Oswald's dragster, and it looks like Shirley Muldowney is taking a break on the back of the pickup.

My opinion: there will be no jet dragsters in heaven.

They will all go to "...that other place...".

That is a great question! Found "A Christmas (Tree) Story" from the NHRA blog
http://www.nhra.com/blog/dragster-in...7/12/19/26012/

Great history, and I did not recall/realize that it was not so long ago that the "tree" was 1st introduced...And that the "shortened tree" was introduced in 1986. Great shot of Pinto Pro-stocker clipping a tree in the 70s...

Thanks!

Check out that temporary power line running overhead to the truck/tower! Great photo. Good eye on the 5 amber tree too.

How about this one? I guess fans of the 409 weren't too fond of the newer "rat" motors!

Yeah Mike! (Strychnine) "Strictnine - The Rat Killer 409" great name.
What I also like about your posted image is the altered wheelbase, and especially the wheel / tire combo used then that current "restored" vehicles do not have...such as the reverse chromes mixed w the S/S wheels on the altered '55. Seemingly the past few years have ALL retro builds sporting Torque Thrusts...

Blue Rat...
