Ok, a few questions from ones with a lot more knowledge than I
I picked up the 67 Firebird motor from Troy in Easton, Pa It's locked up from sitting outside for all those years. ![]() I will dis-assemble it in the next week to see what, if anything, internally is salvageable It does have the correct A/C compressor & brackets intact, and the power steering pump with the dual groove pulley, brackets and dual groove alternator are all there. I was hoping for one of those ultra rare 7 blade A/C only cooling fans, but The 7 blade fan looks like an old skool flex fan. I can't find any name or numbers on it other the word FRONT stamped on it. ![]() The 1 bbl carb is also frozen, but the original tag, idle stop solenoid and all the related linkages and brackets are intact. ![]() The question concerns the dual groove water pump pulley and the compressor clutch. They are both smaller in diameter than the one from my 67 Lemans 6, and the 67 water pump pulley is smaller than the pulley that is on the 68 motor Jeff picked up for me in VA, Why so many different diameter pulleys? The 67 Firebird motor, which has the smallest diameter water pump pulley, was the only one originally equipped with factory A/C. I added A/C to the 67 Lemans motor. The OHC 6 is not original to my car, (originally a 326 V8) so the question is which pulley would help keep the motor cooler? I will be running factory A/C with a 4 core radiator adapted from a 67 GTO.

Can't say whether it would run cooler with the smaller dia pulleys, but can say the oem comp clutch was/should be the smaller one.
In theory small dia means more rotation so it would tend to make sense the smaller dia set up should be the better way to go. I would use whatever is the most complete/matched set to eliminate belt alignment issues.

the OHC-6 compressor pulley is larger it is also very hard to find as most replacement ones are the smaller V-8s

AC compressor pulley. I assumed they used the larger diameter so it would not turn as fast at high revs. Maybe trying to present a warranty issue?

I love when people refer to a sale from either Barret-Jackson or Mecum showing what a totally restored sold for, then describe (No photos) how their particular car could be made into a beautiful classic just by finishing what they have already started, but couldn't finish.
Most true restoration projects exceed their resale value when they are done. Much easier to find a completed car of your dreams than to restore one. My $.02
