Hey everyone,

I was told that this forum was a MUST after having recently purchased my first Pontiac, a '65 Catalina to be exact:

I hope to learn a lot here, and get a lot of help in getting her roadworthy.

Welcome! I'm just up the road from you in Ramona. I watched your Catalina on CL for a while and almost went to look at it several times. Not sure what you ended up paying but it looked like a pretty darn good deal!
PM me if you ever need Pontiac help or want to chat.
Chris

Default '65 or '66

Is that a '65 with a '66 front end or is it a '66? Cool looking anyway and welcome to the PY forums and the Darkside!

Rob...

My first car was a 1965 Catalina convertible, yellow with black top and interior. Nice car.

Arrow Sweeet Catalina...

Low and smooth Catalina; I like everything about it, especially the 8-lugs . I was in your backyard last Saturday racing at the Pontiac Heaven event held at the Barona drag strip. Glad to have you here .

Right on. By the time I saw it, it was already up for 2-3 days. I was surprised that it wasn't taken earlier. The deal I made was better than what was on the ad by a good amount.

The car actually looks better in pictures than in person. Well, it looks good in person too. It just needs some work. There was rust on the rear deck lid between the rear window and trunk door. This in turn allowed a lot of moisture down into the trunk area and parts of the rear wheel wells which also need to be replaced.

You can tell right away that a lot was done to the car when it was first built years ago--it was just left to wither away for some reason.

Not so far. But probably because I've only been around car guys so far.

Rob...
This is the question I've actually been asked the most. It's a 65 that has had the headlights frenched which makes it look like a 66. I really like it, along with the shaved door handles.

Yup. Luckily I've driven a slammed minitruck before, so driving low isn't so foreign. And I grew up here, so it helps to know what lanes to be in, where to avoid speed bumps, etc.
