Default sealer around lower windshield

when the metal windshield post covers are installed what sealer is used around the lower windshield to seal it to the windshield frame? also what about under the windshield where its welded to the frame and seals down the side of the firewall ther is a hole there that has to be covered

I know my way around glass pretty well, but I have trouble understanding what you mean. Can you post a picture or give more detail?

If you are talking about an A body car and the A pillar "cover", that "hole" or gap at the corner of the windshield where the "cover" doesn't lap over the channel. That should remain open for water drainage from the windshield channel. Hope that is what you are talking about.

That's how I understand the question. And yes, it should remain open. The cover should be sealed to the pillar at the top joint and with strip caulk along the flange that the attaching screws go through.
