How rare are the clocks compared to a factory tach. I know the floor shifter was rare, only 10% of cars getting one, but the clocks and tachs seem just as rare also.

There are eight known rally clocks and six surviving factory tachometers in cars currently registered in the USA.

Internationally that total would be seven tachs. (If Poncho Villa has a tach)

A nice tach for the 63 dash is an "old" Dixco tach which is a drop-in fit and an easy hookup.

Yes! Mine has the factory tach. I also have an aftermarket tach on the steering column that has the 270 degree sweep needle. I prefer the accuracy of that one.

That's the one in my black car. It's an old Sun unit with a 3-64 date on the back. Yes it fits EXACTLY in the dash pod.

how cool only 7 or 8 of each and I have one of each 4 cy 4bbl 4 speed with rally clock and 326 3 speed with tach both in conv. lemans'.

I'm surprised nobody called BS on my statistics back there.

The fact that they were allowed to stand shows that there probably isn't much data to the contrary.

I kind of pulled those numbers out of my assumptive nature, based on many (15+/-) years of observations and keeping my own unofficial tally of things like manual trans cars, tachs clocks A/C etc. I think they're in the ballpark.


I'm curious about the history of your cars? how long you've had them and prior owners, stuff like that to see if they are cars that are known to my unofficial research or new discoveries... (PM sent)
