I didnt use any scrapers on my cars. A pressure washer with hot water routed from the washing machine outlet worked great on its own. I then finished it off with a diesel soaked rag. Be careful with the scrapers, it leave gouges in the primer. Use plastic squeegies.

Well here are some pictures from day 3. Starting to get cleaner. Still messy as hell though.

X2 - and don't paint the bottom of that car once you get all the gunk off - it will look fine as is. |

Here are day 5 pics. Almost finished. Need to remove brake and fuel lines to clean under and around those areas. This is very messy!

Wow your doing that on a couple of jackstands? That's what I call perseverance, are you wearing a 3M body suit or something? Looks like your doing a really good job I'm impressed.

I went to the local home depot and bought a hooded Tyvec jumpsuit for $5. It kept everything off me. Just threw it away when I was done. Saved me from ruining the washing machine with tar. (wife woulda killed me!)

Update:
Here is the latest progress on the brake system. What a pain in the arse to install the D154 Brakes. They were the wrong offset for my car and the vendor would not take a return so I had to do some modifications to make it work. I have talked to Wilwood several times over the last couple of weeks and they are consistently against a 4 piston non floating caliper on the rear of a c-clip trans am. so I went ahead and installed the D154. Here is the video. The first part of the video explains the problem. The second half of the video shows the solution. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IThNg...ature=youtu.be |

Excellent vid.
I notice that you don't have a backup to the jackstands. I have worked under the car without backup as well but not any more. A co worker of mine recently died when the car slipped and fell on him. Hate to see it happen to someone else. Keep up the good work. Very nice TA.

There is new rubber That may be causing the space you see. I do have the old rubber In decent condition And I can always put that back in if you think the new rubber will cause an issue

Well I put the old pads back in. They were in excellent condition and did fit better than the new aftermarket junk. Thanks for the tip.
Anyway, here are some more updates on the project. Viking Shock Install and More D154 Details Viking Shocks - 1970 Trans Am - YouTube Gas Tank Back from Radiator Shop Gas Tank - 1970 Trans Am - YouTube |

I'd also suggest going over that with a flat clear, keeps the dull factory appearance but makes keeping the floor clean for years to come a TON easier on yourself. |

I was thinking the same thing. I just couldn't find the right words.
