I need to replace the seat foam in my car. The orig owner said he swapped the seats out from a 69 years ago.
They are headrest seats currently. Without taking the seats apart and uncovering them , how can I tell if they are from a 68 or a 69? |

Pattern of material. Look at a PY or Ames catalog / on-line and compare the seat pattern for the year difference.

tops are same its the buns(lower) that are wider on the 69
If you want to retain headrests(2 different styles in 69) use the upper part of 69 seat and lower part of the 68.

67 -69 seats are all the same weather from a camaro or firebird , the difference is in the foam where the cutout is for hog ringing the center area to pull down . Order the correct year / pattern / foam buns for your car and all will be fine . 69 seats are not wider than 67-68 .

I don't believe any 68's had headrests.

Early 69's had straight bar headrests after that they are curved.

Yes, they were (a rare) option. I know two people that have them in their cars too.

Yup, I just haven't seen the 67/68 Firebird headrests to confirm they are the same as Camaro. I suspect they are.

You need some comprehension , steel frames are the same , the difference is in the seat foam / buns / skins . Have done it 1/2 dozen times .

I have no problem with my comprehensive skills.
I do have a problem with my mind reading skills tho. You forgot to include a key part so Ill quote your last clarification "steel frames are the same"
