This guy has been advertising in HPP mag for a long time now. I have visited his web site several times. He seems to be a good Pontiac engine builder, and has some good quality products, including complete crate motors, at VERY reasonable prices--Much cheaper than the $10,000+ motors from the big name Pontiac shops.
However, I have never read of anyone who has bought one of his motors. So, I'll ask the ? here. Have any of you guys bought one of his motors? Do you know of others who have? Have you heard anything, either good or bad about his products? If the motors are good, then there may be a few guys who could buy a $4,000 motor from Len, but who couldn't afford a 10 grand motor from the big boys. I think that's enuff reason for me to ask these questions. Thanks ! |

I have known len for over 30 years. definitely one of the top 3 Pontiac racers in this part of the country. back in the late 70's early 80's he had his 69 firebird running in the 9's (that was crazy fast back then) he did all my machine work back when I was building engines and never had any problems with any of it. I and ole pinion head used to supply him with a lot of engines he would build for other people. like anything, call and talk with him so you know what you are getting and never assume anything. I can also say that his engines will run 12's all day long in just about any year bird or gto.

I had both a good experience and a bad!
Good-bought a set of Ross pistons at a very good price and I would buy from him again! Bad- had him machine a 67 400 for me, std stuff, bore, line hone turn crank,"0" deck. Block was not zero decked and the deck was too rough, had to have it re-machined at another shop. Would not let him machine another block for me again! |

I took a 66 389 to Len for a rebuild patterned after his 400 build. The work was done on time, he detailed all the parts he put in it, and the appearance is first rate. Unfortunately, for a varitey of reasons, I have not yet fired the engine so I cannot tell you about its performance. I can tell you he was first rate to deal with.

I took a complete 1966 389 in need of rebuild to Len. Asked him to pattern the rebuild after his 400 package advertised on the website. The work was completed on time, great documentation, and the appearance is first class. For a variety of reasons, I have not fired the engine so I cannot tell you about its performance, but I can you tell Len was a complete professional to deal with and I would do so again.

I've seen the ads too but I don't know anything about the shop. There are some Oklahoma people here that might know.

Len's motors are excellent
I have bought 2 engines from Len and they have performed great! My friend and his father who turned me on to Pontiacs when I was in college (1992) have been having him build their engines forever: from street to race. He is a straight talking chap. Do it.

stock rods, run of the mill heads, standard parts. You could build a 400 block with cast aftermarket crank, mid 70's heads and cheap pistons just like him for about same price or less without paying shipping. A friend bought one in 1989 for his 66 GTO that he had a rod knocking 389 in, got him back on the road, wasn't a real ball of fire, ran 14.60's but motor wasn't advertised to be anything real special either. Lasted him about 13,000 miles before spinning a rod bearing but he beat on it like a rental car though too, fwiw, Smitty
