One more photo of Paul Goldsmith at Daytona. Notice how the cars identified in the caption are focused on the Chevrolets (this photo was about Corvette success at Daytona). There's no mention of that strange looking car on pole. Nothing to see here Chevy boys......just move along.
 I'd bet that most Corvette guys, at first glance, think that's the pace car.

Brought to mind how inexpensive the hobby was as a kid...we all had 100s of models, slot cars, tools, supplies, storage cases, parts, etc. From what I've noticed at Hobby Lobby, BigBox, etc. IIRC - These days one of those standard 1:25 scale model kits retails for between $15-$20ea. Or more. Hard to compete with a video game for those prices?

Here's a couple more. Really does bring back memories! I remember my buddy and I riding our bikes every Saturday morning to the local hobby shop. We'd usually bring back one car model each, build it during the week, then get another next Saturday. That's when models were about $3.50 each. Cutting grass around the neighborhood paid for my habit.

That brings back memories for me too. We didn't have a hobby shop....just the five and dime but it was 75% airplane models for me and the rest car models. Revell for aircraft and Monogram for the cars.
I was as much in love with the box art as the models and kept them for years.... Some of these kits are $27~$30 now. I used to buy them for $5 or $6 even up into the 1980s when I was full grown.
