From the "what will these guys think of next?" Department cone this, you'd better check it out if you're a Faceplant, err ahh, Facebook user: http://money.cnn.com/2013/10/11/tech...earch-privacy/
Stalkers wetdream comes true yet again. And if your a LinkedIn user you may want to review this attached link, http://www.techweekeurope.co.uk/news...g-change-36657 and the upcoming "lowering of join age to 13 yrs old" for LinkedIn http://www.businessinsider.com/linke...to-join-2013-8 |

If I read that right it would seem that Facebook could be held liable allowing stalkers to gain access to your contacts like I had earlier this year re: Clubhouse.

I've learned enough of the advanced & expert levels of LinkedOut, Faceplant, etc. to know that once ANY "free" social media, cloud, photo sharing, etc. entity goes IPO all bets are off as to previous agreements.
Translation: Simple really - at the time of "stock offerings for your host company" all of your "personal data and content" is fair game and will be exploited, manipulated & distributed for the share holders' profit. |

As with any online "community", a few simple rules can save you much pain.
Don't post personal info and don't post anything you would be embarrassed to show your mother. Some of the younger generation already know this. My nephew deleted his FB account about 6 months prior to graduating college, knowing that potential employers would be looking for it. He didn't have anything out of the ordinary, just normal, drunk college stuff. He re-activated his FB about 6 months after he was hired. "The internet is forever." ~ Ron White

When there is (always) money involved, companies will be created to resurrect those deleted social media pages. Prime example is the "Internet Archive: Wayback Machine" http://archive.org/web/ (Take it for test run and search for an old "long gone" website and see what you find). Doesn't take much imagination to see the same will happen with all social media and posts IMO. No Facebook here, have no use for it, waste of time.
My son & nearly all his HS age friends quit using Facebook years ago, same with tapping out anything on twitter. This was well before numerous college coaches addressed many of them that are HS athletes at showcases, team camps & combines that they do have staff members who follow social media.

I moved down a dirt road and did away with my electricity. Cut off all phones, computers and sold my belongings.

These "small changes" they make throughout the year can equal to some big changes once the dust settles. We are slowly losing our privacy all the while pretending its being protected..... ![]() Quote:
As an Adult you should know better than to post family pictures up on ANY site these days! Do you know where those pictures end up...? Go to GOOGLE, enter 67 Pontiac GTO and click on IMAGES at the top, see if you can find your car in there (if you've posted a picture before, most likely its there). Facebook, Google Privacy Changes Announced "Another day, another Facebook and Google privacy change. Facebook is axing its privacy setting that enables members to be unsearchable. Not to be outdone, Google plans to sell users' endorsements as a social marketing tool. In a nutshell; get ready for less privacy and more ads - the best of both worlds!
