When Tony got hurt I thought they'd switch crews to see how she'd do in a proven car, maybe they were afraid of what it might show.
She'll get another season, if she fails to crack the top 15-20 I predict she'll be out of Cup for good, the hype and novelty will be gone, probably sponsorship as well.
2014 will be make or break.

I think the new has worn off of Danica.
I don't see her back in the Cup next year.

What is hidden in her 27th place finish is the fact that only 3 drivers (Ragan, Kvapil and Reutimann - all in underfunded teams) finished worse than her that actually raced all 36 races. And then you consider that 2 of the drivers (Hamlin (broken back and Martin - semi-retirement) that finished above her did not run all 36 races and it only makes 27th place look worse.

In fact - you could make a legitimate case that she finished dead last amongst all drivers of reasonbly funded teams.

I agree that she'll get another full season - because godaddy has signed a 3 year contract to sponsor her car. They'll give her next season.

But I see no reason to expect improvement in 2014. Her week to week performances actually got worse as the season went on. Usually you see marked improvement by most drivers on their second trip to a venue - but in most cases the results were the same or worse.

I think this is because Danica is not used to the grueling long NASCAR schedule. The Indy car schedule only has 18 races over 15 weekends. NASCAR has 36 point races, plus the duels, the shootout and the all star race - that's 38 racing weekends.

As David points out - the "new" is worn off. Even the announcers are bored with her.

Godaddy does a buyout of her contract at the end of the 2014 season.

Nothing is "hidden" in her results, Danica's DNF's cost her dearly or she'd have been 20-25, which is where she should have been, IMO. When you're a rookie and at best a top 20 driver, DNF's are just as bad as part time teams.

If the press would treat her as any other driver the "newness" wouldn't even be there. Blame the media for the hype. If they're tired of her it because she didn't deliver to their expectations.

Stenhouse put in an average workman like rookie season, finished 19th I think, not very good for a 2 time Nationwide Champion, but respectable for a Cup rookie.
I'd consider Stenhouse's year a failure, so why do you expect more from Danica?

I'm impressed guys.
Over 1000 posts in one thread it hasn't derailed into a tangential universe.

Keep on keeping on.

Stenhouse finished 19th, 253 points ahead of touring princess with 3 DNFs, 3 top 10s. the 2 DNFs can only be worth a maximum of 86 points if Stenhouse finished first which he didn't. That sure leaves a lot of points unaccounted for between the 2 rookies standings.

Mark Martin in lieu of no ride in the Cup series has been retained as an adviser/consultant to SHR to try to get some better results from the SHR drivers across the board, in particular touring princess. Stewart said he doesn't have the necessary patience or time to properly coach her and expects MM to be of a help to the touring princess. I don't believe any rookie has had a tutor assigned to them to help them get better results in their second year of cup racing.

I guess it's remedial racing 101, or racing special class for those handicapped not able to learn on the same levels as those that are less disadvantaged. I wonder if she'll get a blue parking place on pit road too.

It's hard to imagine how hard someone will try and make up excuses for the touring princess.

Jimmy Johnson, you know - the guy that just won the championship, had 2 DNF's. How did he manage that???

Mark Martin, the sexy senior citizen of NASCAR, also had 3 DNF's and missed 8 races - yet still managed to finish ahead of the ice queen.

David Gilliland, who finished ahead of Panica, had 6 DNF's.

David Ragan, who finished 13 points behind the touring princess, also had 6 DNF's.

How did they manage to do as well as Danica when they had twice as many DNF's???

I don't think anyone here has been proclaiming that Stenhouse had a great season. But as Sirrotica pointed out, he also had 3 DNF's - yet managed to finish 253 points ahead of his main squeeze.

As far as being treated like "any other driver" - when she stops flaunting her sexuality for her sponsor - maybe the media will stop the hype. I don't blame the media for what has happened - Danica brought it all on herself. It's what she needed to do to get a ride - as her talent was not enough to get it for her.

This isn't her first tutor. My buddy from Canada, Steve Arpin, was paid back in her first year in Nationwide to take the ice queen up to Michigan to try and teach her how to drive.

This is Steve with my niece's youngest boy back in '06 at Deer Creek Speedway after the Saturday night feature races:

At that time, Steve had never driven a Nationwide car. But Jr. knew him from the ARCA series and was looking at him to drive some of the races that the touring princess couldn't/wouldn't drive that year. Steve did much better in the car then Danica did, but he didn't have godaddy offering Jr. and Tony millions of dollars.

[QUOTE=MikeNoun;5082611]At the American Country Awards tonight, Danica Patrick showed once again why people can't take her seriously.

And to think she gets ticked off when reporters ask her about her "hotness" or her "sexuality" instead of talking about racing! Well Danica, maybe you shouldn't do things like this?

I can honestly say she's a better Vegas show girl than she is a driver.

its clear she will never be a top notch driver, and nascar is getting the benefit of her "hotness", so we may as well get used to it. as far as her "showgirl" act...at least she didn't "twerk"
