4runner has no frame, its a Unibody car with 4wd.. No offense
It could be better than GM unibody vehicles.
Timing chains/idlers are a pain in the 4 cyl models.

Ya might want to double check your info there. The Toyota 4 Runner most assuredly is a full frame truck. It shares the same frame as the Toyota Tacoma except for the fact that the 4 Runner frame is boxed instead of channeled like the Tacoma. You might be thinking of the Toyota Highlander which is built on a car platform.

While I understand and admit that ALL manufacturers have issues with certain models, I only know my own experience. That is the fact that my wife and I and members of my family have had quality issues with previous GM cars, since switching to Toyota for myself and Subaru for my wife we've had zero quality issues.

I did notice Toyota is discontinuing the "land cruiser" after 2014....
Subaru, have many relatives with them, only really hate the head gaskets, and that cost of the front "Y" pipe. Neither are that often. If GM chose them for some model mix ins, the "yota" must have something going right! I like em, and I actually prefer a Nissan or a toyota for a car/driver...

I recently replaced all of the metal brake lines to the ASB unit on my Silverado. Bent them and flared them. I left the ABS unit where it was and used some good coated lines to make the brake lines from.

2002z4....how much of a job was that? I decided to move the ABS to save effort later on if the fuel lines or ABS needed work, besides I detest bad engineering, when i see it I want to improve on it, I think I did.

That was a late '80's early 90's Toyota truck thing, before the Tundras were intro'ed & it was warrantied very well. See a bunch of old Toyota trucks still on the road in the South. Their owners have taken good care of them.

This GM brake line nightmare, haven't run across, but a good bunch of northerners would be shocked at the clean condition of steel lines on 25 year old vehicles in our local Pick-N-Pulls. A little dust & dirt, but that's it. The mid 90's to early 00 Subs & Tahoes have been hitting the local cheapy yards for quite some time & it amazes me how clean many of them are.

We have a 2wd Sport, bought it in late '06. Big plus when purchasing it, was having a full frame. Best quality vehicle, have ever owned!

Currently just rolled 140K miles, have replaced the rear brake calipers, pads, tires, & fluids, that's it. If had flushed the brake fluid at 75K, most likely would have had not have had to replace the rear calipers.
