In a message from Jim Wangers dated today:

For those of you who care, today January 9, 1926 was the day that the first car called Pontiac was built .

I'd imagine Oakland buyers were sad to see their brand name going away. Dern youngsters with their newfangled Pontiacs! I'll show 'em all in ma Oakland!
