Richard Petty. I'm not into NASCAR but I worked in NYC and hit the Auto Show at the Javitz Center during the day (field service was great) probably 1989-ish. There he was standing against the 43 and I felt a little bad since he was alone so I walked up and met him. Got a nice signed photo.

Same here. 'Assembly line' autographs don't do anything for me.
The two Morgan Shepherd pictures I have were obtained from a silent auction back in the early nineties. I had to send in my bid through the mail. I only bid what I would be willing to pay for the framed photos. Plus the proceeds went to a charity.

In 1982 I stood a few feet behind Bobby Allison as throngs of people gathered for his autograph. It was at a small time race track in tiny Unity, ME. Just being that close to him was good enough for me.

I don't generally have much interest in autographs, although I do have a couple I am proud of.

Have a huge poster of one of the SwampRats signed by Don Garlits and framed in my garage. I also got to talk with him a little and get a couple pictures with him.

The other one is a signed picture of James Best(Roscoe P Coltrane) with Flash. I won the chance to meet him at a car show when I was very young. I have a picture of it somewhere. I was only about 4? years old at the time. Being that age I had a hard time distinguishing between the actor and his character and therefore I clung to my Dad for dear life.

I would like to meet Paul LeMat and get him to sign something "look at your glasses man!", because I have always been able to relate to Toad... and I have glasses.

I pretty much agree with Leigh, so I don't have any autographs. To the best of my knowledge, I don't think I've ever asked for anybody's autograph, except maybe on a check ... LOL!

The one thing I do have is a print with hand signed signatures on it. The print is below with some of the signatures.

I've never been really impressed with fame. I've been around a quite a few famous people and even done work for a few. They're just people.

The only autographs I like to collect are on the bottom right corner of little slips of paper with big numbers on them.

Arnie Beswick signed the glove box door of my 62 Grand Prix. I sold the Grand Prix with a glove box door out of a parts car. Have a signed advertising poster from the members of the band Caroline's Spine.

In the early 90's I used to do a lot of work for one of the Dallas Cowboy players (Robert Jones, '92 1st round pick, NFC Rookie of the Year, 3 times Super Bowl winner, yada yada), and he signed a football and few things for my son who was 10 at the time. Robert is living in Texas again and came here last last year for a signing. When it was my turn I walked up to the table and he smiled and asked what I wanted signed. I told him no thanks, I got your autograph 20 years ago, still have it. He had this WTH-does-this-guy-want look.
I asked "Do you still have the white 420 SEL Benz I fixed twice, or the Rodeo?" His eyes got big and he says STEVE!! I was very surprised. We had a good talk for a few minutes, he reaches in his wallet when I start to go and gives me his business card. Says call me if I can help you. He has a company that sells cleaning supplies.
BTW, if you've never seen a Super Bowl ring up close, they are huge!

I have three Gatornationals tickets from 1988,89 and 90 with two well known names; Don Garlits and Warren Johnson on one ticket and two infamous names on the other two tickets; Lori Johns and Gene Snow!
I had several Nascar driver autographs but let them go when i sold my collection. The one I regret letting go of was Neil Bonnet's. I ordered a diecast piece through a local dealer the week before he was killed. When I got it I was very surprised to see he had signed the back of the box. I wish he was still with us. He was a good guy.

Years ago I used to collect sports cards and deal in them as well.I went to several card shows and collected several different pro's autographs which are still no big deal to me ( JMO ). My question to you is : How many of you have famous people's name's ?

I only get autographs in person - and not on paper.

I prefer getting "things" autographed.

My '64 GTO has been autographed (the underside of the trunk lid) by racers Arnie Beswick and Kenny Schrader after having been in my car.

I also have a pair of Tshirts autographed by Arnie and one by Tony Stewart.

I have an autographed raced used piston from Bobby Labonte's 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix that he won the Cup Championship in.

I have an autographed race used valve cover off a 2000 Joe Gibbs Pontiac autographed by Bobby and Tony Stewart.

I have an extensive diecast car collection (NASCAR) with the autographs of several drivers.

I have Richard Petty's autograph on his dad's (Lee Petty) '49 Plymouth, Richard's Superbird and a pair of "Garfield Petty" cars (my wife is a big Garfield the cat fan). Kyle Petty autographed his Hot Wheels Pontiac and his son Adam's (RIP) Sprint Chevy. Hand carried all 6 cars down to Randleman, NC NASCAR Days when we went to the race in Martinsville, VA several years ago - I knew the Petty's would be there

Rusty Wallace's 1989 Pontiac Grand Prix that he won his Winston Cup Championship in.

I had picked Todd Bodine's Tobasco Pontiac up at the race in Michigan in 2000 for $10.00 on clearance (I liked the color scheme and it's a Pontiac... ) and then packed up the camper and went to Bristol for the next race - and Todd was signing - so ran back to the Jimmy and grabbed the car...

Similar deal in Atlanta in 1999. I was in the vendor area and won a Michael Waltrip diecast NationsRent Chevy at the same time Michael was signing inside the NationsRent tent.

I have the hood off of "our" championship car (I pitted for my best friend Mark Thomas) that he autographed hanging in our game room.

My shop has several race used body panels that are autographed by the drivers - I've worked on many of the cars or assisted the drivers in one way or another. Jimmy Mars, Craig Thatcher, Paul Gilberts, Steve Thomas and a few others.

When I traveled more extensively, I would see a lot of famous people in airports walking by or boarding when people seated are checking you out or vise versa.

Now that we have wireless our faces are in the devices so not watching the crowds as much.

Amazing how many "celebs" fly commercial/ non first class too.

Funny one was seeing Magic crammed in a bulk head seat....(not much leg room)
