I have an original never refinished 1971 shaker from a white car. Plenty of paint left on it..I will take some photos tomorrow and post.. I don't believe it was LB

I have a 1980 photo of a friends 1971 23k miles at the time...his shaker was definetly Lucerne blue..I can dig out the photo..also when I added the stripe to my 76 I found Lucerne blue in a paint catalog..that was how I knew the colour..on the other hand if TYROL is a closer match I would rather go with that as Lucerne blue is a poor match.I have a much better photo of that low mileage car I mentioned and you will see it clearly..all of these cars had Lucerne blue shakers

these are photos I took of an 1971 TRANS AM with 21k miles..an original owner car purchased in 1970 by Rich Siebert of Delaware PA..car was all stock except for custom rims, hand painted 455 on shaker and some dumb sheep fur seat covers...it was the only immaculate T/A that I have ever seen in person..I always wonder what has become of this car...the shaker was definitely Lucerne blue

Thinking, using only logic, I believe the correct color would be lucerne blue. My shaker appears to have originally been painted Lucy blue as well.

Here are pictures of a never refinished 1971 scoop and a never refinished endure nose,. Those that know, will see why I positioned the nose as I did against the scoop. The photo's themselves verify the nose has never been painted. I think the scoop is a darker shade blue without the iridescence. You guys can make your own decisions.But this is as good of an original untouched example comparison as you will see for known Lurcerne blue original paint vs an original scoop. And as I said already, thouse whop know these endure noses will see what I mention that proves it has never been painted...

is it possible 2 different colours could have been used..easily..I believe the go to colour was Lucerne blue because I do believe I saw it in a paint catalog 30 odd years ago...my question is, in real life does TYROL match better..I need to know because I have an order in to paint my shaker and now I may need to change this..any one do this and have photos??

Since I have never painted one TYROL/MARINA blue I do not have this color to do a REAL comparison and if someone would want me to paint one this color I would need about 150.00 for paint.

That's awfully close. Remember, the color of the primer/surface underneath will affect the shade somewhat.

If I get a chance tomorrow, I'll stop by the paint shop and see what they can do regarding the colors and texture.

Ramair's shaker def looks LB. Should have him put a chip sample against it before you drop any coin on paint.

Every and I mean EVERY shaker I have ever seen has original black primer on it....... and nobody uses black primer and I mean nobody....makes a difference ,yes but is it really a difference, I think not enough to change the color that it matters. Nobody will care if its LUCY or TYROL its just the preference of the owner. Nobody can say for sure but I still think LUCY, atleast right now I do.....ask me again i a couple of years

Nobody...? I use black epoxy primer on a regular basis. Like black paint, it's great for highlighting irregularities.
