Default garage collapse

Unfortunately for me my garage collapsed with my 65 Bonneville convertible in it!Nnot sure of damage but the way my luck has been running latley ,I fear for the wosrt and to add it seems I didn't have storage insurance on it! If I look closely I am able to make the right bank of taillights! I have had this car many years(since 1985) with many good top down road trips!SIGH!

D@mn! Too much snow load?

I can't remember a winter like this in recent history. I spent all day Saturday on the roof chipping ice dams away and clearing the snow from the roof.

At any rate - good luck; best wishes as you unravel this.

Don't give up on Ins. If it is on property where you live or have a home, it is possible that homeowners will cover it. Have a good talk with your agent. If you are an old customer, they will not want to lose you. A lot of times this stuff works out. I have seen cars covered by homeowners in the past. The main thing is usually that they were in a building under cover and not out in the open. Just don't wait too long to inquire.

I feel your pain & hope to works out.

You had better be real careful in removing the roof and walls off the car.

If the building is covered by insurance, getting a crane, track hoe or big loader to dismantle is an option. They pay to clean up as part of the claim. When I had a house burn down, I just got estimates from equipment operators, who are often car guys and will work with you on stuff like this. A good track hoe guy could work that to avoid further damage to contents.

"Other structures" should be covered at 10% of your total coverage (meaning if your house is worth $300,000 to the insurance company you would have $30,000 in coverage for out-buildings not attached to the house.)

They will cover clean-up of the existing structure and construction of new, but not uninsured vehicles parked inside & there are caps on other items of contents.

I just reviewed my policy here yesterday & we went through this.

Default insurance

Actually my agent is a woman I dated about 30yrs ago,she said the homeowners didn't cover the car,it covered the garage and contents except motor vehicles,I should have had comprehensive on the Bonneville while it was stored for the winter......you can only see the tail lights if you get close. i fear the the windshield frame is smashed ,the hood is gone because I left it up and the way it caved in ,it formed a funnel for all the snow, ice and water to run directly into the interior......

Do you suspend your auto coverage for the winter months?

You might want to start looking for that windshield frame that might be the hardest thing to find.

If that's the case, get it uncovered and out of there before the weather warms up. The snow won't hurt much, it's the melted water that will.

It has been a month we need an update assuming the snow is gone.
