Wow. Just wow.
That stupid C-word has been rearing it's ugly head way too much lately. You're in my prayers and thoughts Mike.

I saw David post info on this on Facebook, a few days ago. So many similarities between Mike and myself (same age, cars, Pontiacs, etc.)... I also had a recent medical scare, excellent doctors who couldn't figure out what was wrong, several x-rays and 3 MRI's, and finally a doctor looking at me and saying "this is NOT what I was expecting"
It wasn't GREAT news for me, but it wasn't cancer either. I had surgery (which went very well) 2 weeks ago, and was feeling rather happy for myself for dodging the "C" bullet - then read about Mike. It sounds as though he is handling this remarkably well, so I'll focus my prayers on his children. I also made a donation.

Just made my gastro appointment - my consult is this Friday. Also made one to get my skin checked for any unusual freckles etc. - been 20 years since I've had that done.

Have my appointment Thursday 1pm. I'm only 2 months older than Mike. Same lifestyle. All my friends are getting checked in honor of Mike. Thank you Mike for helping all of us in so many ways.

Well Mike, if you are a glorified "Prick" your the nicest Prick I know. you can ask Rob and Carole if your Momma Zeek is a nice quiet old Broad or a foul mouth Bitch Broad. so if you need a few "F" Bombs, I am the F***ing Bitch that can make you smile. I really am a very quiet lady, "NOT" Love all my Pontiac Family.

Re: getting the colonoscopy and prostate exams....Just do it. I've been getting them regularly for 15 years ever since my 53 year old cousin was in hospice. He had been in denial for some time because he felt great. Just wouldn't believe anything was wrong even though he was told in time to save himself.
He told me before he passed not to neglect getting those two checks regularly and I've been doing it ever since. There's nothing to it. The prostate exam is 5 seconds of a complete checkup. The colonoscopy takes longer..about and hour....but it's like taking a power nap and you won't feel a thing. Not to sound preachy...but if you have medical insurance, there's no excuse. Just do it.

I can remember laying on my left side on the table in waiting for about 15 minutes. Every now and then the monitoring attendant would tell me to "breath" because I kept stopping the respiratory monitor. I stop breathing in my sleep. So when it was time to put me under I remember seeing how long I could hold out awareness. About 3 seconds as I remember. Then there was nothing. When I awoke from that nothing they were trying to sit me upright, but I fell back. The orderly wrenched my wrist trying to catch me, but I had no ability to help much. Then I asked what drug they gave me. When someone told me whatever it was called, I commented that I gotta get some more of that. When the entire room was laughing I realized I had said it out loud. Then they couldn't find my clothes because I was the only one who knew which locker they were in.
All I could think of afterwards was Shoney's Breakfast Bar. I ended up driving there because we weren't getting there fast enough. |

This latest rash of Cancer victims and deaths reminds me of the good that can and does come out of some people's misfortune. When you all read (or participate) in some of the threads where members are going at each other for whatever reason, doesn't it all seem so 'small' and petty?
I recently noticed a distinct reduction in the arguing, finger pointing and general lack of patience that normally exists on PY. And rightfully so. We're a relatively small group all participating here for basically the same reason. Too small a group to be divided by peripheral views on subjects unrelated to the reason why we came here in the first place. Let's use these unfortunate circumstances as a reminder to put things in perspective here on PY.
