She did pretty well today - compared to other weeks.
Stayed on lead lap - no tire bombs - no wall bangers Finished right behind the guy who was leading the race with 2 laps to go. She did good - for whatever reasons. luck timing moon stars sun , pixie dust Few more top 15's and she might become a solid mid-packer. lol Was good to see her do "good" again finally. |

i wouldn't vote for Hillary don't even know a bad reason much less a good one . enough about voting tho Danica got 13th and finished on the lead lap ... finally |

One of the restarts they televised from the blimp she ran smack dab into the car in front of her and almost spun both of them out. Remarkably neither of the Waltrip brothers or the other sportscasters saw it and brought it to the attention of the audience.
She has not hit the pace car yet, nor a track dryer. I have faith she'll be able to hit the pace car on a wave around maybe because she only was on the front row once and missed her opportunity that time.

One of, if not the most spacious tracks, its easier to stay out of trouble there. And I suspect pggto is correct, without pushing your tires you're less likely to have tire issues.
Brad there was also another shot where she was about to hit another car and the camera quickly moved away. I will say, when you can't run 20 laps without half the field losing a tire, its not the set up, its the tire! |

Couple that with a "gritty, abrasive" track surface, teams using ultra low tire pressures to "tune" setup and the teams "taking it to the limit" on camber settings...no surprise of the high numbers of failures IMO. Danica drives in the middle of the track, rarely does she move up or down, but when she does you know the outcome. Danica drives a race car but does not race, I think she has a lot of heart but she just isn't strong enough to drive as a race car driver and for this she cannot communicate to the crew chief what the car is doing.

As she hits 32, we see a driver that seemed to have given up her position as The Next Big Thing. She seems happy to be here enjoying the money and fame that were not possible in the early years. Patrick seems to have lost her fighting spirit on the track and has reserved her energy for commercial endeavors or hosting award shows. If you follow her on Twitter, she has well over a million followers. Compare that to the other racing greats like Jimmie Johnson, or Dale Jr, who both edge just over a half a million. Danica, if anything, has achieved fame. However, that personal fighting spirit on the track seems to be gone. Perhaps if she focused more on racing again, and less on building her personal brand, she would have a better racing career. If that is what she wants. They're being pretty kind to someone that even now the media can see, that she's a flash in the pan, old news. Just show up on Saturday night, or Sunday afternoon, make a mediocre attempt, and get paid, cha ching. Only 1 thing about that article that bothers me is the author seems to think at one time in her career she was actually talented. For the years she's raced and been in top equipment and won 1 race because of fuel mileage, she shows me very little actual talent as a race car driver. If I had a racing career like that I would have quit after the first year. Same thing that has been said about her on here since before this thread started, by the majority of people that actually follow NASCAR. In comparison last year was her same equivalent to Anthony Wayne Stewart's first year in NASCAR. By that time Tony had at least 4-5 championships and more first places in motorsports than the touring queen will make if she stays in racing until she's 70 years old. There's the difference between a racer, and someone that just drives a race car. I'd be the first to admit that sometimes it is the car. Might help her crew if she could tell them what was wrong. But she is the same driver she's always been... And that is not a race car driver. |

Not defending her, but you have to know the cars limitations. If her crew went aggressive like many others, she'd probly of wrecked.
How many guys where unwilling to give up their position ended up lose'n alot to a blown tire. Ya I was pissed(mostly cause "Dic with ears" won) that Gordon pitted instead of go'n for it with 2 laps to go. But he'd been say'n there was a vibration. And he back'd off just enough to still lead and save some tire jic. Ended up 13th vs possibly in the wall take'n others with him. 6 one hand, 1/2 dozen other. Just say'n...
