I got my copy of HPP today in the mail, I am one of the unlucky ones who will most likely be receiving a 3 year subscription to Honda tuners or what ever they stick me with. I have been renewing HPP that way (three years at a time) for around 9 years. Big lesson learned.

I was pleased to see your Goat in the issue. I have read about it so much it was nice to see it in the magazine. I came on here to tell you congrats! and saw this thread. I had no idea about the cancelation of the magazine. Very sad. Maybe the folks who worked it could band together and start their own Pontiac publication. I for one would subscribe. I'm sure the folks who advertised in it don't really care who runs it.

Don, Smoke Signals has always been my favorite Pontiac mag. Perhaps because it includes ads for cars and parts. But usually interesting content too. I subscribed to and still have every issue of GTO/Pontiac Enthusiast, it was very good especially in the beginning. I have subscribed to HPP off and on over the years. I get The Legend too. But Smokes the one I will read first.

I would applaud putting the '74 story in Smokes. I would also suggest, if it could be arranged, run the rest of them too, maybe in reverse order. Surely lots of folks getting Smokes did not subscribe to HPP. If HPP is kaput, perhaps the publisher would grant permission?

I also like the idea of bolstering the content in Smokes.

And finally, the time is ripe to go after HPP subscribers who aren't POCI members to induce them to join if for no other reason than to get Smokes. Especially if you can add some content that is being lost by the demise of HPP. Just a thought.

PS - Got my HPP yesterday, great story Bill. And sharp GTO. Love the old car wash pic you posted too.

Charles Thanks for wanting to start a thread about my car. I have 2 years left on my subscription. A while back Don Keefe said if we didn't support HPP it couldn't survive, well I guess there just wasn't enough of us. I found these Circulation Demographics they show who reads the magazines. Quite a difference, no wonder Hot Rod is still around.

So for both publications the subscription demographics are interesting. Most of the readership for both HPP and HRM are either young or old. So much for the internet theory.

Today June 6th (D-Day 1944) was supposed to be the release date for the magazine. Went to Barnes & Noble this morning. I talked to a woman there she said there hasn't been a magazine delivery in a week. Distribution was also shut down and they're waiting for someone new to take over. I don't know if they'll ever hit the news stands.

Received my last issue of HPP today. Page to page, I skimmed the mag, all I want to say is, the 1972 GTO and the 1978 Black TA were stunning. RIP HPP. Without slighting others, my point is, HPP was a great magazine over the years, and I'm sorry for those who lost their job. Hopefully, this is a short-termed setback, and recovery is quick.

Checked my checking account on the internet last night and I found that HPP debited my account for $38.00 on the 5th. of June. Can you believe that a defunct publication will take your money. I did not authorize this transaction, they kept my checking account info from the last time I renewed. Now on Monday I will have to fight the bank to get them to rescind the transaction. What kind of balls does this publication company have?

NEVER do pre-auth payment by bank account for anything. You can never get them off without canceling your checking acct. By credit card better...if you must have pre-auth.
Easier to change acct no...call in for new card.

It's not really balls as much as an administrative process that may involve second-party companies. Just the logical thing by calling the company's customer service line and request a refund, and if they balk, then go to your credit card company.

I don't think a company like this willingly takes money like what you're implying. :twocents:
