Yes, welcome. That is so cool to just mention it thinking nobody would have any info and here you are. I'll PM you my e-mail. I'd love to see anything you have. I'm a bit in shock.

If you have more than one of any old license plate frames, key fobs, ads or anything that could be framed for display at a show or conversation piece...well, keep me in mind. Even something I could copy and return perhaps.

I got a call yesterday from the guy that I bought some new NOS lower control arms from and he says they should be here to me by Saturday. They include the ball joints and bushings. I should be able to get this car to roller stage once I install them, although I think I need 2ManyTAs to come compress the front coil springs for me - using nothing but his bare hands...

Lower control arms showed up tonight. They need a little attention and I'm going to replace the bushings in them since they are dry cracking, but they should do the trick. They are sporting the part numbers

It looks like the edge of the paint ends in different places. Were these dip painted rather than sprayed? Were the bushings already installed when they were painted?

I think these had to have been dipped. You just know GM didn't spend the time masking down in spots like this. And I do think the bushings were installed when it was dipped. Lots of pictures to look at. The bushings are shot and one of the ball joints doesn't look real good and has a slightly different look on the bottom. I've got a set of NOS ball joints that should fit so I plan to carefully extract the one and install another.

Looks like you are using a 1970 rear upper seat frame. 71 is different since the frame and spring area is shaped to fit around the stand pipe. Ask me how I know this...

Hmm....seat looks right. Is the seat cover just catching the top of the pipe? Try to installing it again.

Not unlike a tourist that wakes up in their hotel bathtub missing their kidneys - the lower control arms woke up this morning missing their bushings.

No heat, no fire, very little pressure ever applied to the control arms themselves, if any. Doesn't take long to get them out and the bores are not altered in any appreciable way.



Next up will be to remove the ball joint of the one on the left.

A few pictures might help with these questions. Subframe is partially assembled. NOS upper control arms, shafts and bushings. Motor mounts are there, too. The lower control arms that I got last Friday should help move that along. Body is painted. Everything is PPG paints. The underneath is PPG DP74. I know some may try to correct me and say that I mean DP74LF. But, no, in this case it is DP74. If you know your PPG primers that will tell you something. I still need to do the trunk spatter paint. I sold my NOS T/A decals to a guy named William that talked me out of them. He was working on a couple of 1970 cars for others - one was a RAIV. You might know this William guy.

Sorry, a couple of things under the car that I didn't feel like moving this morning. Excuse any spider webs. I've got the headliner hanging from the rods, too. Still need to pull the rear end and detail it - we put it under there just to get it home from the body shop. I borrowed an old rolling subframe from Bill Nelson (different William) to support the front end while it was on the rollback.
