Default LPI Oil Pump

Got my LPI oil pump today. Fantastic workmanship Mark. You are the man. Pump looks great. Will get to use it in a couple of weeks in my Blown 4cyl. Anybody looking for a great pump, give Mark a call. Thanks again Mark, Rusty

Mark did a great job on mine too. Really a great option for the racers and heavy street guys!

Is there a recommended affordable pil pan that keeps all the pump quality going?

I'd like/need to know of a decent road-race (not really autocross but I can dream) and sustained-highway pump-pan combo that also serves well for 1/4 mile use.

Been away from the board for a while and know nothing of this pump. Can you guys share more information?

I'm all for companies introducing uprated parts for the Pontiac ,but in my opinion $350 is far too much to modify your own pump! I've never had an oiling problem using the $80 Melling select pumps, though I only spin my engines to 7000-7200 rpm and am only making around 960 HP at the moment. Maybe there's a need for a better pump up around 8000 rpm or over a 1000 horse,I don't know?

Default Canton 15-452

HIS,

We like the Canton 15-452 pan for most applications that are limited in pan width and depth. Fits great in the A body chassis.

Rusty,

Thank you for the kind words and thank you for being patient with getting your pump finished and shipped back to you.

Leech,
The rumor is...it was the pump not the heads that helped gained the Hp...

I would agree with that statement. Same deal applies to carbs on engines.
LOTS of engines can go down the road at 80 mph with a basic Rochester 2 BBL carb.
When you increase the RPM (or acceleration rate) beyond a given point then having a larger 4 bbl is appropriate.

The LPI stuff provides a part that does not consume the HP of the Titan pump, allows lower oil pressure and parasitic loss while keeping the engine alive at very high rpm. Think 8000+ rpm. The BOP pump will fit into a "stock oil pan without major mods or a higher capacity pan with a factory look. No custom super high dollar oil pan rework.

So again, it is for guys who want a higher level pump capability with lower HP consumed (without spending the money on a Titan) and not have issues feeding the engine at 8000+ RPM.

All of what you posted is valid Taff2, if you are talking an engine like you have.
Some want that "4 BBL" capability even if they are racing in "2 BBL" mode.

Tom V.

We have a Luhn pump on the new motor as well. Hoping for 1050 HP, crossing the line at about 7800 RPM.

The pump is enclosed in a custom Stef's pan.

We hope to start it up this Sunday. Then onto the dyno.

We started the motor tonight.

Oil pump worked great.

You have to remember, this pump flows more volume, so the pressure is not what everyone seems to expect. It is a little lower than normal, but it was rock solid, no fluctuation in oil pressure.

We'll see how it performs on the dyno in 2 weeks.

Very nice Richie! Is that going in the Grand Am?

I just fired up my 525ci engine with the Luhn pump last night. So far so good. I'll make a couple time runs tomorrow and hopefully everything looks good and then hopefully go a bunch of rounds.

At 5800 RPM, we had 50 psi.
At 7500 RPM, we had 54 psi. 960 HP

No spikes, nice and smooth.

Pump works great.

Thanks Mark.

What weight oil are you running?

Those dyno numbers look pretty good to me!

So is 54psi a pretty common oil pressure that guys run?

We are running ULX110 10/40, non-synthetic.

I think the 54 psi is very common with these pumps. Mark from Luhn should be able to comment more.
