What tire size are you wanting to run?I run a 275/60/15 with a 3.08...just use a rpm calculator to find a tire size and a available rearend ratio that is close..

thanks for the launch info, i may try stalling up a little higher next time out. i will be looking into new tires soon but still have some life in these. i do have some cheap summit 3 way adj shocks but thats it. the PTFB GT suspension kit if just too stiff for any real drag use. but i built the car with a multi purpose in mind, street, strip & some corner carving.

might try a different intake too just to see if there is any improvements over the SD ported cast iron im running now... if anything just to get that 40lb hunk of iron off the nose!

Just the weight off the nose can help a lot...my battery and starter weigh 23 lbs total!I'm using a little Braille 2015 battery weighs 15lbs!

Pretty well..it does discharge slightly so its nice to keep it on a battery tender or disconnect it.No real issues..when I first installed the battery it was turning an old starter that needed a bit of juice to crank the engine..did fine with it...with the RobbMC mini..it just whips it over hot or cold..

thought the t2 was the better intake? i run a q-jet so need the spread bore flange. i have one of the cheap repro single plane intakes, hurricane i think. i might play with that & steal its water x-over. i have a formula hood on a 72 firebird so am limited to only a couple intakes that will fit under the hood...

The majority of the work was done in the plenum, here are a couple pictures, the one on the left is an original untouched Torker 2 that ran a best of 11.38 at 120.5.

More pictures..note the runner size with a 1233 gasket. What is interesting and hard to show in the picture is the nice smooth transition from my Wilson tapered spacer into the plenum, the top of the plenum is smoothed back nicely.

As most know from Derek's thread..the car dipped into the ten's yesterday.Identical tune to last time,I haven't checked the DA but it would be close..the only difference was the launch and the track stayed good. The 60 fts really surprised and shocked me.
Instead of listing the warm and fuzzy best runs I will list each run in order

60ft 1/8th mph 1/4 mph
1 1.6760 7.1731 98.86 11.1311 122.58 cold car spun
2 1.6840 7.1810 97.84 11.1571 122.63 spun
3 1.5731 7.0551 98.25 11.0212 122.89 hit rev limiter in first
4 1.5922 7.0548 98.27 11.0239 123.01 hit rev limiter again
5 1.6676 7.1529 98.24 11.1217 122.93 pushed tires staging
6 1.6339 7.0849 99.14 11.0378 122.67 lower launch hit shiftpoint
7 1.5843 7.0464 99.08 10.9982 122.58 good launch crappy lane
8 1.5670 7.0030 98.65 10.9509 123.60 good launch better lane

The 60 foots with the gearing surprised me..but the car loves leaving at 2000 to 2500 rpm feels like a train hits the back of the car.
The first 10 second run I asked a guy with a Javelin for a race he was trying for 10's too..but had more gear and lighter and was 60'ing in the low 1.5's to high 1.4's..this was added motivation.I let him have the better lane that the prefer the slick or drag radial cars use...I used the less prepped lane and dirtier lane...I made sure I did a good burnout...we both redlit me with a -.06 him with a -.08...when I went around him at 100 ft I knew I had a good run...I thanked him after for the race..told him he gave me incentive to run quick.

It was a great day as always it seems at St Thomas Raceway Park..great to hang out with CNC Chris...and a couple others who always seem to gather around us..

Sorry I missed following this thread. Whoa! 10's on street tires and 3.08 gears? Do I understand this right? Sorry for not wading through 28 pages of posts on this deal, but bring me up to speed. If so, that is flat out unbelievably awesome. I am impressed.

When I had my car out the other night it got me thinking about the eighth mile. A Pontiac will keep pulling long after a chevy looses steam. The eighth is a whole different ball game, you best be hooking like a starving catfish.

I hear ya...if I set this car up just for a max 1/8th time...I think I would destroy all my cheap ass parts behind the engine..!

My trans was on it's last legs before I pulled out of the garage that night, f*ck it man, I had fun and nobody can take that one away from me. What does Disturbed say in one of their songs? The past is indestructible.

I'd rather write stories than have none to tell.
