I'm still in the tuning process, but the new combo pulls almost 13 inches at 1000rpm.I do have the idle turned up at the present time for initial breakin. It feels strong down the highway very easy to speed,it falls into a nice purr at 65 to 70 mph with very little throttle opening.I'm currently running a mix of 87/91 octane and zero hint of pinging.
Once it has a few more miles on it I will do a cranking compression test..the old engine was 170..it won't surprise me if this one is 190 to 195.

I let er rip tonite...feels really good..no hiccups etc.It really feels like a lot more power..punched it in first gear doing about 5mph and instant smoke thru all the gears until I let off.Down the road a bit I stopped brake revved to about 1500 rpm nd let er loose same thing even with warm tires.

I have the in gear idle at 800 rpm now it still pulls good vacuum..still have some minor tweaking to do but I'm pretty happy.

The car really lulls one into thinking it doesn't have has much power as it actually does..but boy does it wake up when you let it breathe.

Thanks..I should be at 10.75..My son says the car really sounds different..it has about the same smoothness for an idle but stronger and much deeper sound.I still don't have the tailpipes on from last years experiment so the sound of the motor really booms out.

I like how the motor "barks" when it first fires!

I hope he realizes that large of gain, but I am going with 2/10. The previous motor was certainly no slouch!

Good luck when you get on the track again!

There is a big difference between the bottom ends, old shortblock had a bit of blowby, heavy TRW's in the hole .020.The new shortblock is zero decked, balanced, light CP pistons, meticulous attention to detail and assembly.

First time out I will take any gain, I would be happy getting in the 10.8's with a 10.6 as a long term goal.

Weather permitting we are going Friday night and Saturday afternoon.

Like many I hope it does well. After the track results consider a new thread with results and so the new people won't have to wade thru all the posts how about detailing all the changes made, including specs.
Just my .02

I'm just hoping for some improvement of any kind. I'm remembering the "for sure" improvements that were coming with the RPM experiment...Your new improvements all point to better ET's especially considering all the insight from others..

I'm not a racer, but am concerned about traction, most of all...

Many thought the rpm intake was a logical choice with the gearing and weight. It just couldn't compete with the torker 2 and the one inch spacer. At the time neither intake was "ported" just a simple gasket match.
