Default Here we go again...finally got me a 66 long roof!!!

My weak spot has always been 65-66 fullsize cars & I'm always browsing classifieds, CL & forums for just one more. Always wanted a wagon, but never could find one at a reasonable price until now. This will make #4 for 65-66 fullsize cars for me. All need at least a little work, but that's part of the fun. Anyway, I'm so damned happy I just had to share. This is my dream driver car! One owner until '07 when the lady passed away and gave it to her nephew. I bought it from him with every reciept for every oil change, spark plug change, tire change, carb adjustment, etc, etc, etc. 107,000 documented miles (she drove it until the day she passed away). You just don't find these peaches anymore!!! Not trying to boast, I'm just so friggin extatic! Check her out! Updates will come soon. NO! The Steering Wheel Is NOT For Sale!

Congratulations!
What a wagon! Looks gorgeous and in great condition! You sure lucked out on this one.
I have a '66 Bonneville long roof too, but nowhere as nice as yours. Your interior is to die for.

Nice car! Judging by the wheelcovers, it has 15" wheels?

Is the hood emblem on upsidedown or is that how they came back then? Nice wagon!

Thanks for all the compliments! Yes, it is a 389 4 bbl. Yes, 15" wheels. 9 Pass. The guy I bought it from was an absolute dream.....the kind of guy I wish was my neighbor.....we'd be really good friends! It was a real quick deal. Sent him an email off a CL ad, then deleted the post after he didn't reply. A month later he got back to me with some pics. Within 2 days I had the trailer hitched & ran up to Denver to see it (about 1000 miles round trip). Just by the pics I knew it would be in my driveway before long. I usually NEVER share what I paid for a car, but I'll never sell this one anyway......I ended up stealing her for 3 grand. All I can say to Pontiac junkies like me is keep on searching.....they're still out there. You just gotta dig deep to find what you want at a decent price. Don't give up or lose hope. Your dream car wants you as bad as you want it! Like I said, I have 4 65-66 fullsize cars. 1 I bought when I was 18 and have since refused to give it up, and the other 3 I have bought within the last year. All 3 of those I thought was an absolute steal...this one was the icing and the ice cream on the cake! I'm still pinching myself to make sure I'm not dreaming! I'd love to PHS this thing but there's no need. The amount of paperwork & receipts I have, I know more about it than any other car I own.

Yes, the hood emblem is upside-down. Thanks for pointing that out! I hadn't noticed but I got a really good laugh when I double checked the picture, then went out to the shop to look at the car!

Looks like former vinyl top car and has Catalina tail panel?

Cool, great pickup and glad you'll drive it ! This really was a steal. Saw one recently down my way almost 2x the price and not as nice. I like the emergency flasher, I have the same one in my GTO. 4300 lbs of rolling Pontiac fun!

Nice find! No wonder you're excited. If you want to, please post more photos. It's always fun to see other peoples wagons.
Any other options than power windows and tilt wheel?

I'm assuming it was a vinyl top car because of the trim but I've seen a few cars here and there that had the trim and had painted roofs. Maybe I will order the PHS after all! Good catch on the tail panel....it looks to be from a Cat. just like you said.

My new wheels & tires are supposed to be here within the next couple days so I'll get some more pics after that.

My 66 long roof is white with a PAINTED black roof, and it also has the molding across the tailgate, so it may not be only for vinyl roofs.

A very cool car, I like it...

After working most of the summer on Catalina fenders I bought for my Bonnie I'm well aware of how difficult it was welding up the holes on the body line where the mounting clips were for the Catalina side trim. I don't know much about wagons but I checked the sales literature and didn't see an option for side trim, did they install side trim on a Bonnie wagon?
Am I missing something here?

The side trim does appear to be factory. When I saw the original pictures sent to me, I thought it was a stick-on aftermarket moulding as well, but when I looked at the car the trim was all chrome and bolted-on.....holes in the door for the trim look original. I do have the Driver's door trim but it needs to be re-attached.

Thumbs up NICE FIND...

Love the lines on the '66's.
I do believe that is factory side trim.

Best of luck with her!
