From past pictures and seeing cars when I was in my teens when they were new there was a stripe on the top of the fender door quarter panel

I don't know what to tell you....That doesn't fit the description of any factory '68 Rally stripe. Not saying it wasn't there...but it wasn't factory.

Yeah, maybe that's it. We mentioned the Royal possibility earlier but I'd forgotton about that particular one with the one dual pinstripe.
If that's the car I'm thinking of, it also had a fair amount of graphics and lettering painted on the quarters as well...although I've seen pictures of it without the quarter panel stuff as well. Again, not from the factory this way... (I don't think anyway)

Yeah, I believe it too....but the question is, do you think it's a factory application?
The only factory Rally Stripe that I know of for '68 is the dual pinstripe, similar to the one in your example Boss but applied at the lower body line. It ran from the front bumper to the rear bumper. That's really all I'm trying to establish since GTOwolf seems sure the stripe he's talking about was a factory stripe. As he states above, he remembers seeing pics of new cars with the fender stripe that extends to below the quarter glass. I've never seen that. Just trying to learn if I'm wrong about that.

Thank you for your answers maybe the car was a Royal Car after all it was from that area. I know the car had coil spacers under the coils and JR Headers on it Cragars of course and raced on Woodward a lot when new. Sure would like to talk to the original owner who was a Keego Harbo fire fighter in Michigan that's all I know ..Thank you again

It's the stripe I described...a double pinstripe at the lower body line running from the front bumper to the rear. My first '68 had one but I don't have a pic of it where the stripe shows clearly. You don't see many cars with them.
About the only pic I could find is of this MODEL car. Of course, the stripe is a little 'off scale', that is, kinda thick compared to the actual car. Coincidentally, this model is exactly like my first GTO. Mayfair Maize with black interior and black Rally Stripe.  This is the best pic I can find of my old one from '82. You can see the stripe at the lower front fender..

RAII Roll Call
Hi guys, First time on here.I just got my PHS papers back last week and it turns out I have a 1968 GTO RAII hardtop!.I found this site while trying to figure out exactly what I had here. Its a Gold with Black vinyl,4 speed. The whole drivetrain has been swapped out over the years but the car is pretty solid.It is somewhat apart right now.I am still in shock!! I noticed an engine block is on the list from a gold and black vinyl car.Does anyone know how I can get more info on that block? Maybe its from this car??

RAII
Thanks everybody. The car was built in Baltimore.It was sold new in State College PA.I will get some pics posted.I don't know very much about its history yet.The car has been in the PA,NJ,DE area for many years and still is.
