Have one of both! Turbo wagon is running and newly painted,

The GTO survived norwalk...

but didn't survive the beating I gave it on the street! Time to build a good bottom end.

You did a nice job with setting up those turbos....

What was the failing link with the motor , cast crank??

Thanks! Appears failure started in the factory main caps. Hard to tell if the bolts went first or the caps themselves. It was all used junk I picked up cheap when I was still in school and broke, so not much of a loss. Now I am torn between going the aftermarket block route or building a strong factory block engine. I think I may be the first person to run a set of unported 6x heads on an aftermarket block!

Nice cars Alex.

Stock caps are not known for much strength! Aluminum rods like BME or GRP and splayed bolt steel caps probably would have kept that one together!(certainly longer) Aluminum rods act somewhat like harmonic shock absorbers. Factory N cranks are actually very strong but they are also very hard and more sensitive to harmonics/flex than a forged or billet crank(both are more flexible). Not advocating cast crank over forged or billet, just I am aware of a few cast crank motors well over 1000 hp that didn't break the cast crank or if they did, it wasn't crank failure that caused the crank to end up broke.

Thanks a lot! It sounds and revs like it's gonna be! Should be able to take it for a test drive soon, then post up a little video. I've watched all of your guy's videos probably more than you! Lol!

Cool cars, hate to see the blown up engine, have more pictures of the cars engines?

Getting an aftermarket block is a very good idea for growth....

The goat is a 74, I was running close to 20 psi this summer. Previous engine was 406 in^3, unported factory heads, borg warner s360 turbos, ms2 controlling fuel and timing. I am leaning towards an IA2 block and forged crank for the new engine. Below are a few pictured from the build, hopefully they will give some winter motivation!

Haven't been paying attention to the site lately and thought I would check in. My car hasn't been on the jackstands for a long time, but its definitely been negelcted. Took it for a spin last Sat to knock the dust off.

Boost controller is giving a fatal error after powering up for 15-20 minutes. Could only muster 10psi, but it sure reminds me how much fun it is to drive.

The following day temps dropped 40 degrees so its probably done for the winter. Plan to spend some time on a dyno next year after the move. I still haven't ran it with methanol yet...

You're motivating me to twin my 74 Ventura. There aren't that many that I have seen with turbos.

With 20 psi what do you think it was making hp wise?

It's when it cools off enough to touch the steering wheel when you get in the car.
