Thanks webfoot. Your info is very helpful. I have everything wired up and functioning the way it should (except the Side markers. I have to go snag some bulbs). That being said even though everything is functioning tip top, when I have the headlights on, the two green arrows in the cluster are on. When I put the blinker or hazards on, the arrow then flashes as per normal. I think I will suffer like this for the time being as I am guessing it will still pass inspection and everything works otherwise. Only difference is those two green arrows are constantly lit when the headlights are on. I will just have to stay stumped because I believe this is as good as it gets. Thanks for the help. I am glad to have everything functioning again. In the end it was a bit of everything from bad grounds to bad bulbs to things plugged in wrong.

Hey so the lights were on because the front blinkers weren't grounded. I didn't know it grounds in with the valance. Problem solved....this is great.

Thank you for this! I have the left blinker on with the headlights on (and some dash bulbs out but i'm hoping it's bulbs as some are on.) Blinks when turn sig on, all lights look normal walking around the car, everything normal with HL off.

So the front blinker ground was where to start looking? mine is all together, but somethings not addressed by previous owner.

Now off to solve the no heat dilemma.

It hasn't worked out quite yet, still have the issue and the car is 100% together, but i'm going to triple check grounds for the left side headlights and parking lights to be sure that's not it.

Found another thread where i assume (no follow up) the printed circuit was the culprit :-/

When you were having the issue, were your lights working OK? Mine seem to be all normal outside the car.

I didn't quite get your description, but your blinker light on your console stays on? If so I can almost guarantee that is it the ground of your blinker. I had this issue a week or two ago when I was fixing the exterior lighting issues (I had them all sorted out about a year ago, but since then I got the car painted and they re-messed up all the wiring). When I went to fix it recently, I got everything working properly except for the blinker light was on in the dash...it ended up the ground wire had pretty much snapped off from the boot that plugs into the blinker housing.

My left blinker indicator stays on, ONLY when the headlights are turned on. If the HL are off, it's fine. With the HLs on or off, when using the turn signal, it blinks normally.

Outside the car, with the HL on, all lights are working.

Recently had the gauges out to fix the clock and put new lenses in, and hoping i didnt mess up or break the circuit on the back of the gauges moving everything around :-/

I will give you my not because I am an electrical guru (far from it), but the fact that I just experienced this exact same issue. This just happened to me, but it was both blinker signals that were permanently on until I turned on the blinker or turned off the headlights. The issue with both of the blinkers was the grounds on the blinker housings...like I stated earlier the grounds had pretty much cracked off/come undone from the boot that plugs into the housing. Taking the fascia off is a pain in the ass in my opinion, but you can even lay under the car and take a peek at the ground wire where it goes into the boot and see if you can visually see a problem. This is just my opinion but I would really advise to start there because that solved my problem in 2 minutes once I found out what it was

I'm excited that it may be it. I'll start with some ground jumper wires for testing.

When you were having the problem, were your marker/blinker lights working? Or were they not working, and the indicators staying on?

The blinkers were "working" but the blink was weak (it was more like a flicker). The second that ground went on it was like night and day with nice strong blinks, and the blinker indicators went back to normal

OK, so, i was missing one bulb in the speedo housing (the one with the wire or optical lead attached to it that runs off somewhere else in the dash?) I'm guessing the bulb fell off inside. replaced that, and all dash backlights look good.

This won't explain much, but there's a backlight bulb above the turn signal indicator bulb on the printed circuit. It worked, and removing it made it and the turn sig indicator bulb go out, EVEN if the turn signals were on. I played with the plastic circuit, wiggled things around, and everything is working perfectly.

I have to guess there was a short in the printed circuit i upset, and it might come back. i THINK i can sneak that circuit out under the dash with the column down and duct out. But, since it's been working all day and everything is perfect for the moment, i'll leave that for another day.

If that cluster has to come out, maybe i'll do it next winter and upgrade to rally gauges at the same time.

My thoughts too were rally gauges (as can be seen in one of my threads) which I planned to go this winter....but nope I took 2 months to do the front suspension and all this electrical crap.

This is old, but i played with it tonight, seem to have a grounding issue to the headlight switch (the lights just come off and on as they please, new brights switch didn't help.) Playing with the plug seems to trigger it some.

It took me about 1.5 hrs, but i was able to switch the flexible circuit out with a new one without removing the dash. WASN'T the issue AND i found i had a good one from another cluster...damnit!

LOOSE ground that i swore i checked screwing into the cluster through the strap from the wipers. Brake light was on, thought pinched wire, nope, bad switch in the prop valve. Tapping it some didn't help. Brakes work fine, but unplugging that wire made the dash light go out.

So, turns out all along single bad ground, bad prop valve elec switch, and need to find out if headlight switch bad or just not grounding.
