I think removing the wings and such is an old wive's tale. Sure, the Superbird was a tough sell (not so much the Daytona, which was based on a Charger, not a Coronet), but considering it had Coronet front fenders, it would take a lot of work to make it presentable to a customer as a proper Road Runner.

Anyway, I'm sure 694.1 will be able to set the record straight.

There is a Kelly Chrysler Jeep Dodge dealer still in business in Brookville, PA , near where I live. I wonder if that's the same one?

I remember as a little kid, my Father ran a Goodyear Dealer in West Chester Pa, and there was a Chrysler/Plymouth dealer next door and they had Superbird in the showroom.

That wing was burned into my brain. I told my Father that he should buy that car!
