I had a few friends do it over the weekend, so it was the only priority in the shop. Its been raining so the exterior looks the same for the most part, but I've got new weather stripping installed and the interior is going back in.

I completely forgot about having a build thread on here. I know most only like real T/A's and I think that's why I tuned it out, but I'll update it anyways. Im sure by the end of this post they'll be some butt hurt going around.

Heres the car done:





Now I don't know if I posted up my 81 Daytona T/A project I picked up. It'll be fully restored, but in the meantime the wicked cool Recaro interior has taken place in the 71. Don't worry about the rug not fitting well in the pics, I got it all straightened out. I really like the way it looks in the car. The Hooker show bar, louvers, and torque thrust wheels all tie in real nice!

Hmmm that's odd, I don't think this fits on a Pontiac does it? And that's an awful funny color to paint it isn't it? Hmmmm....











The engine and trans should be out by the weekend, and its new heart will soon be beating!

Thanks man. The show bar was like finding a needle in a hay stack! I still cant believe I found one. It was in a 76 Camaro that was being parted and scrapped by a friend, and he asked if I wanted it before he sent it to the crusher. $100 later I had myself a show bar!

I searched for one of those for years. Then I found two within a month. Used one on my 70 and still have the other one for a future project. Congrats on your car it looks great.

I agree but I hope you never really have to use duh Bar. I prefer all my Bars to serve cold refreshments if you know what I mean

The 81 Recaro seats are some of the coolest seats ever made! I actually bought a pair of 79 Mustang Recaros to restore the passenger side 81 seat. The bottom was so rotted it literally crumbled apart. Oddly enough the material was perfect, even the netting in the headrest! I took some pics, the first one is all that remained of the seat base. The 2nd pic is the Mustang base.

Thanks man. The paint came out OK. Theres obviously things that I would have done differently now that I have done it (we all know how that works) but I'm happy with it for now. I'm thinking in the next year or two I'll be stripping it down again. I still haven't decided what I will do for a color.

Got the new engine home! I started tearing it down and getting ready to prep it for paint. Everything is coming apart smoothly with no broken bolts!

Theres a lot more room in the engine bay compared to when the 455 was in there!

Not yet. I was planning on running an F-body pan. The truck one fits in the frame fine but it hangs almost 3" below the crossmember. I have someone who can chop 2" out of the truck pan and pickup. I might go that route, I don't really know yet.

I still have a little time to think it over. I need to jump on the harness and get that wired up. The harness is the hardest part (which isn't that bad), after that everything drops in just like an old engine.

Got the engine degreased and painted up! Looks real nice

Got the harness started. You start by taking all the tape and plastic tubing off and zip tying everything as you go. You cant let the harness become tangled or too loose. I try and make "branches" as I go. After this you get the correct pinout for the year of the harness and highlight the pins that can be removed and the wires that go to an external source.

As a side note, I don't like wiring.

Yes these pics were taken on my dining room table. Right now the pics are showing a complete 03 truck harness in full stock form, and then what it looks like stripped naked.









I also got my new Camaro water pump with spacers painted and installed! Also got the idler pulley relocation installed. That's the triangle shaped thing above the PS sump.
