Default My 1969 VW Squareback around 1982.....

.....at Los Angeles County Raceway in Palmdale CA. It was powered by a 1964 155 HP 225-cube Buick V6 adapted to the stock VW transaxle, the radiator was up front where the spare tire normally resided.

Black enamel paint was shot and polished by a friend and I did all of the body work and prep. It was equipped with 14X5.5 Porsche 914-6 alloy wheels with 165 and 185-14 XZX Michelin radials.

Best ET at Teminal Island Brotherhood raceway (run by 'Big Willie' Robinson) which had much better air than high-desert LACR was 15.18 @ 89 MPH.

I didn't even know this picture existed until a few months ago after a friend posted it on Facebook.

For anyone who lived in the Phoenix area in the 60s-70s, will remember Westward Pontiac. As a boy, I still clearly remember their tv commercials.

They had the same guy do them over many years, his name was Hal Schiedler and their motto was "Westward Pontiac, Right on the price, Right on the corner on north 7th st at Highland"

If you can't see images above (quoted above here) go to post #1418 and look there if you can see the OP images?

This is not a Pontiac or my car, but it just happened Sunday as posted in another thread but it fits this one too, here is what I posted.

Quote:
Now this is a crazy story. Back in the early 80's a local friend of ours built a crazy nice Dodge Aspen, sold it, and went on about his way in life. In the last year we have reconnect; he is in Arizona, but some of us here in Muskogee had been trying to track it down for him, with no luck. Sunday night after shooting Michael and I are to stop by an visit old friend Charles Shoemake; and we also called to have Scotty Goodwin join us, Scotty has been neck deep in Pontiacs (mainly Trans AMs) all of his life. Charles is the one with COPD and Scotty has on the hat. As we are standing waiting for someone to answer the door; Michael points out and old hot rod is in the back yard. Can you believe it? That is the car. First as it is today, then as it was, the three of us that night. Below that is Scotty hunting Pontiac parts in Hollifields Salvage back in the mid 80's.

My GTO, pic is from the 80's and so is the vintage title. The other is all the motor combo's I tried out in the car back in the 80's.

Street racing in Muskogee early 80's Fort Howard International Dragway

And someone posted way back Christmas with Redlines.... Oh what I would give to have some pics like that!!!! But in the meantime, my favorite Spoiler.

Yes indeed. I was at that exact spot with my '69 LeMans for a week of hiking once. My budd and I were a bit tense on the steep winding roads with 4 wheel drum brakes. Fade city!

Makes me think it's the aftermath of a major mid-western tornado.
Of course, if that is a sea gull above, odds are strongly against me.

My first thought was a hurricane. Maybe Carmen? Hit Louisiana and Texas in '74.
