I keep telling myself we're going to wait until the crowds die down... I'm not sure I can hold out past this weekend, much less my kids.

Im a huge fan. I have multiple star wars tattoos. I was a big fan of all the books. Have read something close to 100 of them. Disney lost a lot of points with me when they said they were going to ignore that whole universe. I get that they want to tell an original story, but I felt that could have tossed a few names out to the people who have made those books NYT Best Sellers for two decades and everybody would have been happy. Throwing all of us under the bus I felt was a mistake. They could have just given a few character names as an homage, the EU fans would have been happy and they people who have only seen the movies wouldnt have known the difference.

So I went into the movie bitter and expecting not to like it. For the first 3/4 of the movie they had won me over. A lot of well written funny dialogue. And then in one scene they went from a 9 out of 10 to a 6. Theres lot of little things I can complain about as a Star Wars elitist. But really it came down to one thing that Ill leave alone because its way too early for spoilers.

Ive been on record plenty of times saying "Not as good as Empire Star Wars is still high up on my cinematic wish list" And that still applies here, but at the end of the day it fell into a tie with 2 for last on my list. People like to complain about Episode 1 a lot but the light saber battle with Obi Wan and Maul was so incredible I give it a nod to 3rd from the bottom.

I threw a Star Wars party for all of my nephews and nieces a handful of years ago. It was awesome.

We started with ep.1 and went all the way to ep.6. It literally took 18 hours.

The rule was, you can eat and drink whatever you want the entire time, but there is 15 minutes of running or playing in between movies.

That worked for all but one of the nephs who had to tap out after III.. Or IV, I can't remember.

The movies were all the extended cut, new footage, whatever.

It was an epic day. Now the kids have grown up. They still talk about it like a national holiday.
