Did you have some of the bolt re-oxided? I see what looks like fresh black and grey phosphate oxiding.

I do some bolts myself ...but not always happy with the results and not sure of the longevity ... I use the 200 degree soak in Mag Phosphate etc. method.

Awesome job GW... What's the deal on the brake lines at the MC? are you going to connect at the flare nut on the end of that stub or is that just for bleeding purposes?

Johnny, yes refinished the bolts using a zinc phosphate method. I outlined the procedure earlier in this thread. Sounds like you do the same thing.

Greg, that damn little line won't fit it's too short. Purchased from Inline Tube years ago when I restored the frame. Going to have to call them to see what's up.

Looking real good GW!! I'm sure you are getting anxious to see her completed. I really do like that color gold it really stands out! Your Grandmother had good taste, I'm sure she would be very proud of how you are restoring her car. When you go to Seatle I'm sure you will have no problem bringing home the concourse gold award. The reason that line got my attention in the first place is that the booster/MC equipment under my hood is an eyesore. I have a brand new booster and MC just sitting on a shelf that I may as well use but I was wondering what to do about replacing the lines.
I see that Ames lists front line kits. I may try that out.

Inline is hit and miss in my opinion ... good selection, but much of what they describe as absolutely "correct" is barely close.
Just installed a set of their wheel cylinder to flex hose hard lines ... PITA, had to do considerable bending to get them right.
Ended up removing them because they were not spring wrapped like "correct" originals. Installed some from a different company ... Right Stuff I think ...fit quite a bit better, still needed tweaking.

The spring wrap is the only reason I was going to buy any in the first place. Otherwise, I'd just make some to replace the highly visible ones between the MC and the distribution block on the frame rail. I may do that anyway...If I could figure out a good way to simulate the wrap.

They sell just the spring shielding. I've used it before. Just slip it on, add your fitting and flare the end. Helps with tight bends too to keep the line from kinking.

Where would one find that shielding? I've seen the line at certain parts stores.

Here we go again! Wet sanding the clear so deck lid, hood and bumper all come off again. Mike and I got the quarters, deck lid, hood and both doors done yesterday and today.
Going to spray the final coats of clear in a booth with a bake cycle at Walkers place of employment.

Been making more slow progress. Car was shot in clear for the final time and Walker is scheduled to Polish in two weeks.



Found an upholstery guy and am pretty excited as he comes highly recommend from a high end Porsche shop I've done some work for.
Ordered a ton of stuff from Ames today including a bunch of interior stuff. Tom, the upholstery guy, is going to order the headliner material, carpet and vinyl top. The gold samples I got from Ames for the headliner was not gold but a buff and Tom had a carpet sample color that I liked a lot better as well.

This car originally had idiot lights and no tach. I want to run rally gauges and an in dash tach. I had a few sets of rally gauges around and a very nice tach. I sent them to Pete Serio of Precision Pontiac to restore. He took the best of what I had plus some excellent parts he had and made me an awesome set.
Pete set the milage to the actual milage from my grandma's car. Pete also matched the sensors to the gauges so they will read accurately. Also modified tach to work with my MSD dizzy.
I've had Pete do work for me in the past and as always his stuff is top notch, thanks Pete!
