I NEVER would have expected those two colors to be put together. Surprisingly (to me) it works....Interior looks to be in great condition as well!

I got it from the original owner, his dad ordered the car for him, and gave it to him when he graduated from college. Its a unique car thats for sure. I actually like the gold interior with the blue also.

That's the strangest color combo I've ever seen. I think the guy's dad was messing with him a little bit

Was wondering what is the latest understanding about 48 heads on the 350 versus the 400 MT and 400 RA engines?
I found it hard to imagine that Pontiac would have two different heads using the same casting numbers when if you look at other 69 heads like the 2bbl series of 45, 46 and 47 which are the same heads save 3 different combustion chamber volumes (two of them nearly identical). This seems to be backed up by the MPC (november 1969 and 1971) which shows only one cylinder head part number for all the 48 applications (350HO auto and manual, base GTO manual and GTO RA auto and manual). I looked at valves springs, valves and same thing, no part number differences. I always assumed that (like the 400 vs 428) piston shape and perhaps piston deck height changes made heads interchange from 350 to 400's with same compression ratios. As for people finding some with lower cc's I would think that simple head milling for performance gains or to correct warpage over the years would explain that. My mechanic was working in the 60's and 70's and everyone was bumping compression by milling heads and thinner gaskets until the good gas disappeared in the mid 70's.

Here is a correct 350HO air cleaner still wearing original paint, stencil and paint dabs. This is a 69 but the pn is the same for 68.
It is a unique air cleaner to the 350HO but in effect it is just the hi performance single snorkel air cleaner used on the 68 GTO, 68-69 428's (except the 360 horse Bonneville version in 69) in GP and big car, and the Fbird 400 in 68-69 except it had a black rather than chrome lid used on those bigger engines. The regular 4bbl 400 in the GP and the big cars along with the base 428 (360 horse) in the big cars used a smaller pointy snorkel air cleaner. The 350 HO had no chrome on the valve covers either.

Here by comparison is the 69 "lopo" 4 bbl air cleaner (on a 340 horse 400 Catalina, but identical on the 428-360 horse big car or 400-350 horse GP)

HD air cleaner was really just a heavy duty wetted air filter element. The air cleaner assembly was the same regardless of the HD option. However the stenciled or decal two letter code on the air cleaner referred to the replacement filter needed so an hd equipped car had a different code.
If you look at the MPC you will see that the 68-69 350HO had a unique air cleaner pn not shared with any other engine. Factory photos, survivor cars and period magazine photos confirm that the above air cleaner is the correct one.
