IIRC the GT package was available starting w 302...and the scoops started in '69 were not on Torino or Ranchero GT's in '68 (1st yr of same body style)

I remember seeing an older, early 60's Ranchero years ago that had 406 badges on it. I don't recall if they ever made it that way or if someone just put the badges on it.

I had a '69 Torino GT notchback when I was in college. You could get the GT with anything from a 302 to a 428, mine had a 351 Windsor. It had the hood scoop but there was no ram air or fresh air setup; there was a hole in the hood underneath the scoop but the engine had a conventional air cleaner and the scoop inlet was blocked off.

The 406 was only available for a couple years before it was replaced by the 427 in 1963. During that time period Rancheros were based on the Falcon, so none of those came with a 406 factory installed. The Fairlane based Ranchero started in 1966.

Is that kid on a Green Machine Alvin? I remember being jealous of my neighbor having one of those as a kid back in the late 70s. I don't think my kids ever road on big wheels let alone on one of these.

I had a 71 ford van with a 6 cyl. to but it was when I was in the Navy, it had the inside all done up with shag carpet inside & a bed with lights on the walls & it looked like a rolling hotel room right out of the 70's. That was in 74. it was my 2nd vehical along with my new 73 GTO & my 67 GTO that I bought for a wopping $ 300.00 & painted it in the body shop I was working part time.

I don't think they make 'em anymore. I spent hours racing my brother on our big wheels as a kid.

Me in 1963, 7 years old, northern MN. To young to hunt but not to try look like a proud little hunter :-). Discovered this pic a couple years ago, did not know it existed.

My nephew was messing with a big wheel a while back. Had a rubber wheel at the front and was down-hill drifting it. *Edit - the green machine was re-released. Can get it a Walmart.

Pic of my old lab Sam (Samantha) - taken around 1995 I think.
And my garage about the same time.
