I would leave the spoiler off if it were mine, but I like them either way. If you do leave it off, I would suggest that you get another deck life without the holes, then have the old deck lid and spoiler pieces painted when the car is painted. That way you could always put the spoiler back on if you wanted to. It's going to look nice no matter what you do.

Mike - compared to the holes in the Black Car for the spoiler, it looks like your's were made by a surgeon and mine by a butcher.

Tom has made a lot of progress getting the car pulled apart. The dash is now out and the front clip is off.

Spoiler was added by the second owner in the 1980s when he "restored" the car and tossed all sorts of original parts like the rotors, master cyl, rear leaf springs......He was addicted to Classic Industries and bought all sorts of "correct replacement parts" there. I replaced both end caps because he had torqued the hell out of the studs and cracked both end caps. I cut the ends off at the correct distance to duplicate the correct 72 trimmed end caps.

Have him fill all the Ziebart holes in the door jams while he's filling the spoiler holes. :-)

P.S. Tell him to be careful removing the heater box - that is a brand new heater core in there and the tubes are really fragile on the A/C cars due to their length.

That's a new revelation I believe. If I am keeping the spoiler then I am shocked you took such a shortcut and didn't source the "correct replacement parts".

I liked this car a lot all along. I see it in a vastly different light now knowing a no spoiler originally car. Optioned with every desirable option in a kill for color, and no spoiler! Doesn't get any better.

Yeah, now that you put it that way it seems sort of interesting. This car wasn't ordered with low cost in mind, and almost all options were ticked off the list, so it seems it was likely a conscious decision to not include the spoiler on the car.

I love the fact this was a lawyers company car for three years on a lease, and that he then bought it from the leasing company with a Chevy Vega trade in as part of the deal.

My 95 Suburban K2500 is a diesel. In this blizzard we finally got the 35" of snow plowed out of the driveway last night...by a comapny with a brand new $80,000 Dodge Cummins diesel.

He got stuck in my driveway and I had to pull him out with my 21 year old Suburban. Felt great until my truck's 4WD actuator blew out on the front differential, after I pulled him to the street. No big deal, it was $55 at the autoparts store and took ten minutes to replace this morning. (Common problem with these trucks).

Now back to our regularly scheduled program.

I welded and filled the two Ziebart holes that were in the doors just below the striker. They drilled right through the original conformance decal! I had ECS make up a correct new decal and Bob has it in his file of paperwork, etc.

Personally I'd leave the spoiler off since your going through the car. If it bugs you down the road just blast a couple holes in the car with your 45 and re-attach.
