Not at all OPH, none taken, welcome your input on this as well as everybody else's thanks. I am travelling to the car and hope to have further pics in a day or so. No t-top, no radio, no AC, 4-speed. She is my kind of W72 so I couldn't pass it up.

I stopped to look at a Solar Gold T/A back in the early 90's. It was in super rough shape, but it was a Gold Anniversary the owner said to me. The PO told him that. Lol. I tried to set the owner straight, I told him he didn't even have a Y 88, but it's hard to correct BS through the years sometimes. Silver in '79, does it make sense to have a Gold anniversary in 1978. He saw the light.

Back it the 80's when my buddy had the Y88 that I own today, we all thought it was a golden anniversary edition. Not sure where it started but it had so many gold appointments we knew it was something limited & special. Gold anniversary just sounded cool I suppose. I didn't learn Y88, or S/E until the mid 90's.

While I am partial to the TA/TA, I thought there were butt ugly back then. Never liked the wheels or the silver on silver. I have since changed my mind. Only saw one before the internet came about. It was one for sale on the edge of town & I remember looking in the windows & wondering why all the silver? The house it was for sale at has been torn down & there is a convenience store there now.

I'm not sure the ZP2 code is that unusual on Canadian docs. I've seen several 78-79 Special Edition Canadian docs that have the ZP2 code, yet they had regular interiors (like this 62B example above). I believe many dealers that placed orders for customers (customer ordered) checked off the ZP2 box just to be safe, which sort of told corporate that "we know what we're ordering, don't change it", even if it was standard Trans Am recommended color combo.

Of course, if it were a non-standard, non-recommended color combo (like Solar Gold with a red interior), the ZP2 code would be followed, but I think many dealers simply checked off ZP2 to be safe.

I've never seen ZP2 on a build sheet. If someone has an example, I would love to see it.

It's for TAN, why they didn't use all 3 of the letters?
They used abbreviations for the colors because they were longer than 3 spaces, but TN. for tan?

For conversation dunno what the "TN." represents...not the interior IMHO - but I could be wrong!

Reason: "62B" ='"Dark Camel Tan" "trim color and material for the car" according to my on hand info...

To the owner: My previous post indicating "possible" odd special ordered two-tone interior...even if it was, the dash and glove box door color would color match (all same color)...prolly obvious but never know some lurker reading this thread showing up at Nats and/or local show w "rare" alternate color glove door to go along with "factory" Buick engine decal on his 77, 78, 79 Formula for example!

Interesting...as for 1978 weren't ALL "except Y88" black w black column and wheels? Understand starting in '79 colors matched etc.

Huh? For 1978 only Y88 column and steering wheel available other than black in Y88 as tan, right?

Wondering if possible car was a theft recovery? Noted the rear uppers were '79 Hobnail custom seating and lowers were standard vinyl black.

Could explain interior changeout...was common for these cars to be interior stripped out by "midnight auto supply" along with T-Tops, etc. Could explain tilt colum replacement also...

Wow, talk about a mix-matched interior! What has me surprised is that it looks like somebody painted the steel dash black. That's not too easy to do with the vinyl dash and windshield in place! Everything else does not surprise me too much. My car has had everything swapped out except for the dash pad and gauges. Had a pretty nice custom wood backed headliner too!

Retrieval of a factory build sheet ought to confirm 62 as the color of interior components. know I pulled 3 clean copies out of my '80 SE, before mothballing the car. With the front seats, rear seat, and door panels swapped out over time on this '78, it still should have a buildsheet copy on top of the gas tank. Crossing my fingers for you

On the ZP2 code, as it had been used, it was a an override to match stock code interiors with exterior colors that the combination would look "funky", not to combine aspects of different interiors. Having tried to do the latter with the help from zone reps on an extremely early special ordere and priority1 sold T/A, just find it hard to fathom a combination of colors between the dash and seats, something else has to be going on.
