The usual dip I'm referring to is the forward edge of the pad where it meets the metal.

So, it sounds like you mean the rear edge of the pad facing you? My opinion is that a depression in that area was caused somebody or something pushing on that spot. The pad is fairly easily dented with too much pressure, and unfortunately doesn't return to its shape. It's even possible it might have been done at the factory when the dash was shoved into place during assembly.

W the bad pix, it's Hard to tell if it's a W72. According to VIN # shows as Pontiac engine.
Whatta you think it's worth, and/or is this one a good Resto candidate or $ money pit?

Yes and even after my rotating & cropping the original blurry image, I can't really tell from this only engine pic.

I'll never understand the crappy pictures people post on ebay, CL, Etc. All it does is add to the questions & burden of the seller IMO. anything worse than these picts & you might as well turn the lights off & take them. Is the hood up to show that it opens? It sure doesn't serve any other purpose. So much technology at everyones fingertips & its not used.

This stuff always bugs me. I was just looking at buying a 1/2 electric motor for my shop exhaust fan. The seller sent me a picture of the spec tag that was completely unreadable & blurry. At what point do these guys look at their pictures & think, Aaahh, perfect. Click & sent !
Sorry...... serious pet peeve I need to get over.....

Wow, glad I got that off my chest.

Another project W72 for sale. Looks like only A/C as far as options? No Y88 on the tag, but we have seen that before.

A year ago at the Natz in Ohio, a guy walked into my booth with a Gold Rally under his arm, turned out he had a set that were off a 1978 SE Snowflake delete car, I've been looking for a set for a long time in Gold. these were rust free, they were in stg since the 80's. And the rings and caps were perfect except 1 cap. Correct code for a 78, I'm kind of sick of the flakes, I still have my set, seems everyone puts flakes on, kinda like the 8 lugs, you see them on everything. I didn't touch them other than a good wash and wax.

Y88, WS6, 4-SPEED, AND NO A/C. THAT'S GOTTA BE KIND OF RARE?

Seems like these cars came in a lot of configurations of options. I could see A/C being skipped over back then, wasn't it around $500? big option back then. That car is showing pretty good money for something that needs restoration with a lot of unknowns. Looks pretty legit, but a few things that look worrying like the rust though on on the top of the fender. I'm guessing the bottom side is in need of some work too? IS the vin stamped on the top by the head? mine are all down by the radiator return hose.

Anyone know if that is standard floor insulation, or might this car have the acoustical sound deadening option BS1 ?

I just looked at the pictures again. I didn't realize how blown apart the bottoms of the doors are, especially the passengers side. Definitely a project car & is bringing good money IMO.

But, if there is documentation to backup the milage along with owners history, thats worth a bunch!

No it's in the usual place, the rad hose is there in the foreground.

It's a Canadian car - I just realized - so up here AC was often passed over in favor of "just roll the window down".

My Canadian-ordered '77 Bandit SE W72 4 speed was ordered with no AC or radio.
