Was surprised seeing Chevy guys showing interest too. In Corvette City no less! Imagine that!
Pontiacs going fast regardless of who's heads are on it are getting attention. Pontiac PowerTTF!

Sure hope they give it at least 1 more shot... Not sure what it takes to increase participation but this has potential to be a great event.

I was at a small local car show last weekend and was talking to a couple Pontiac guys there and asked them if they were going and neither one knew anything about it, and were less than two hours from Bowling Green.
I'd like to see this event takeoff, great track, great car show area, room for lots of people.

I would like to see this take off as well. Great track when prepped. I think if it was a little earlier in the year (cooler weather) more would show up.

... I agree, the heat was not fun, but there is nice tree coverage to help with that, but man the facility itself is fantastic !!! ...

... the grounds are all mowed and kept very very nice, air conditioned bathrooms AND SHOWERS TOO !!! Holy crap it was great to hit that shower after a hot day like that ...

... then amusement park is a great thing for family to do while dad is racing ...

... and you can not say enough how nice the covered bleachers/stands area is, there was a good amount of people under there watching, which was very cool ...

... we'll certainly be there next year, maybe if it's earlier in the year, spring time-ish ?? ...

... maybe it's tough for people to make both Beechbend and Norwalk because they're close together ?? What do you guys think ???

... overall great event, and a great facility !!!!! ...

Had a good time at the Pontiac U.S. Nationals. Been there both years and was hoping to see this event take off. Kevin has this event at an excellent track and location. Always nice to be able to talk to our major vendors and sponsors [KRE,TIP,& Butlers]. I also got to meet Jim Sammons of Roland Racing for the first time. I'm looking forward to bolting on a set of his CV1.1 heads on my MR1 block. We'll see what Kevin does. We don't have many PONTIAC only events out there.

I was just asking because good competition is what I like to hear about that is all. No doubt the a hot track sounded like a the toughest competitor in outlaw street....and by the sounds of it Fulton beat that too.

$2000 to win? NICE! Not sure why some of the east coast guys didn't go down for that....maybe next year
Family/work priorities. I am going to do my best to make it next year.

I agree Bill. A month earlier for cooler weather and more time in between events might help. It's a 13 hour ride for me. lol

Maybe the people putting on this event could get some Pontiac clubs from nearby cities involved that would bring more in?

... well it seems there's lots of people that are not aware of the event, so maybe we can all do our part and keep the thread under discussion and most importantly for all of us to tell everyone we know about the event ??? ...

... Facebook, Twitter, Forums, Emails and texting, i'm sure we could round up a butt ton of people if simply more people know about it, as for scheduling I'll call Jeff at KRE and see if earlier schedule time is an option?? ... unless someone here has Kevin Swaney's phone # ???

... but it would be bad ass to see where the new Street class we ran in can go, as I know there some heavy hitters out there to race that class
, and man a $2000 payout was pretty cool !!! ...

... hell maybe some kind of raffle could get generated to help pull even more people ?? ...

For me it's scheduled on the same weekend as a race I've always gone to.
2nd it would be better if it were either earlier in the year or later in the year. October would be best. Everyone would have their cars done by then. Earlier in the year they may still be finishing their car.

Seems to be some valuable feedback here for the organizers to consider... Hopefully they get wind of it.

No box Nationals (Lyons in IN) plus The No Box Bonanza (Norwalk) are they same weekend as this event. I missed all 3.

Ya Rob, I noticed you weren't at Lyons. The Norwalk event took a few from the No Box nationals race but not too many. Last year was a record at about 242 going down first round on Saturday, this year was 208. I didn't win much cash there but it's hard to travel another 4 hours to BG to race for one day when it doesn't pay anywhere near the $5000, $10,000, and $5000 at Lyons and race for 4 days. Hopefully it won't conflict next year.

Also, I hear the GTOAA convention will be in St. Louis in 2017.
No word on racing yet ?

gatewaygto.org
2017 will be here before we know it. As we prepare to host the GTOAA convention,
Tom Oxler has put together a tentative set of committee assignment. These are intended as a
starting point, so please take a look at your assignment and if you would prefer to be in a different
group, please let us know.
